New code *UAT3*

It's a new code for late model 2000 F150, 5.4L,3.55LS. Built in Kansas City.

Does that mean UAT3 is an "upgrade" from UAT2? My truck has code UAT2, and it was built in Norfolk, Va.

Hey guys, I wanted to clear something up here. UAT3 is not necessarily an "upgrade" of the UAT2 code, we cannot assume that automatically.
It is true that Ford (and most automakers) are constantly doing small changes throughout the course of the model year, absolutely, and we tell people about this all the time. So MGD1 was correct in that statement.
But we cannot automatically assume that UAT3 was released as an "upgrade" to UAT2, not at all. There can be many different reasons for a different code, sometimes it can be just an axle ratio change that wouldn't be applicable to any UAT2's, that is one possibility, and there are many, many others.
My point is, this is not exactly like PC software, where you almost always want to have the latest version. You generally do not want to reflash your vehicle's computer, *unless* it is to solve a particular problem.
For example, as long as there are no real driveability problems with your UAT2-code vehicle DougS, then I wouldn't try to get your dealer to reflash your computer to UAT3, you may end up doing yourself a great disservice, and that is assuming the dealer would even consider it, which they usually will not. They will generally only do this when there is a specific problem, and only when Ford says the practical solution to that problem is to reflash to another code. I mention this just as an example.
I just wanted to offer a bit of perspective on this for both of you guys, that's all.

Hi MGD1,
I'm glad it makes sense to *somebody*!
Sometimes it can be an "upgrade", but not usually.
