Post Installing Superchip in Y2K SD 5.4L

Looking for info on installing superchip in Y2K SD 250 5.4L. How does the wiring harness disconnect from the computer? Is there two bolts to remove from under the hood? I am interested in adding a superchip to the truck. My computer code is CPY2. Thanks for any reply's.

Hi txgunpowder,

Welcome to F-150 Online!

The Super Duty trucks generally have their computers mounted on the driver's side, close to the emergency brake pedal. This is an important distinction, as the Light Duty F-250's have their computer on the other side, over on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The computer is mounted so that the front inch of it passes thru the firewall, so it can connect to it's wiring harness. To remove the computer, you simply loosen the single 10mm bolt head that is in the middle of the wiring harness. As you loosen that bolt, the harness will slowly back off the front of the computer. Then go inside the cabin, and pull the computer out. This wiring harness is under the hood, on the driver's side, under the brake master cylinder.

The Superchip actually attaches on the back of the Ford computer, on the outside, in a "piggy-back" arrangement, so to speak. To return to stock, simply pull the Superchip off the back of the computer.

This is actually very easy, and will take you maybe 30-40 minutes to install your first Superchip.

We include completely installation instructions with each Superchip we ship, as well as providing Tech Support.

You might want to just give us a call, and we can go over the installation procedure in detail with you, and answer any other questions you may have about the Superchip for your vehicle, we're happy to help.
