Difference between Superchips and JET
Mike, Can you explain any differences between the JET ecu reprogram and Superchips reprogram? I own a 99 5.4 Expy but was planning on getting a superchip reprogram for my other vehicle first, which is a 95.5 Isuzu rodeo to see what it's like. I don't know if you carry superchips for all vehicles but was wondering if you did? Also how does it improve performance on a manual trans? (compared to auto's to which you just change the shift point?)
Thnx
Wil

I just finished reading "JET Powertech Module Posts" just awhile ago. NOW, im pretty sure i will get a superchip for my expy soon but still want to try one for my other vehicle. The only thing is, does superchips work only when the chip is installed or in my case do i have to send in my ecu to get reprogrammed? Will this decrease performance compared to installing the chip? Or does superchips even reprogram chips? Also, ill email you privately Mike as this is a vehicle other than a Ford but am planning on getting one later for my expy.
Thnx , sorry for so many questions

WOW, Thnx Mike, ill be giving you a call soon. Thanks for going over the specifics, i do understand that i can't compare both vehicles but i like the fact that there are many happy Ford superchip owners which increases my interest in going with Superchips.
Thnx again

SuperChip is taking some hits about it causing a bog.
One guy had a PSP chip and had it happen to him as well. Anyone want to defend the SuperChip ?
A quote from a L driver:
What's amazing to me, is after a year there is still not a perfect chip that works perfectly. I don't see the Superchip garus jumping in here and defending their product which oviously still has "bugs" in it. As my sig says, I am looking at chips and when and if they finally get it right, I will buy one.

Dear gr8ride,
Asking questions is how you get the information you need, so don't worry about asking, that's what we're here for!
With regards to the difference between Superchips and Jet, Hypertech, etc., take a look at my response in the thread titled "Mike - Superchip vs Hypertech", that will give you a pretty good idea. Briefly, Superchips is the only one that programs each vehicle specifically, instead of offering only "generic" programs, compromised to run on all similar vehicles. Also, where other chips only work at WOT (wide-open throttle), the Superchip works *all* the time.
Actually, we do make chips for some of the Isuzu's! However, that stops at about the 1994 model year for most of them. Some of them use GM computers. Give me a call at our number listed below and I'll go over your specific Isuzu application with you.
You really can't compare the Superchip for the Isuzu to the Superchip for the Fords, as the Isuzu's have different issues with regards to the specifics. The Fords will see more of a benefit in many areas as compared to the Isuzu's. Isuzu's can see very nice power gains, as a lot of them are tuned ultra-conservatively from the factory, but there are numerous other aspects such as automatic transmission tuning, transitional spark retards, etc., on the Fords that we also deal with, that you don't have on the Isuzu's in general, so you cannot make direct comparisons between the two.
You do not have to send in the computer for your Ford, but over half of the Isuzu's DO have to have their computers sent in to be reprogrammed, due to their design.
With regards to the engine power gains for manual-transmission vehicles, the increase in engine power is the same with the Superchip as it is for the automatics. The automatics will see some additional gains in what we refer to as "transitional" areas, that cannot be expressed in terms of peak power gains, but that help the vehicle to accelerate and perform better. But the raw power gain in the engine is the same regardles of transmission type, as a general rule.
Just give us a call, and we'll be happy to go over all of this with you.

After doing alot more research with actual users, I have ordered the SuperChip. Puting my money where where I get the best answers. Installing it this weekend but it looks like rain Sunday here in Chicago so I will not be able to test my '99 Lightning right away.
Thanks Mike for not being upset with me when I gave too much weight to other isolated comments about the SuperChip.
