Can I beat a Dakota?
My truck...F150 Supercab, 5.4(260 HP), 7700lb pkg, with 3:73lS, Magnaflow 3 inch, airbox mod, K&N, superchip. Weight=4800lbs.
Dakota Sport 318CID (5.2l) 230 HP, 3:92 gears, approx weight= 3700lbs. Old mod is cat-back exhaust.
The current Truck Trend tests a 150 Supercrew, against a Dakota QuadCab.
Dakota=16.3 1/4mile F150=16.8 1/4 mile
Dakota=3:92gears F150=3:55gears
it appears the F150 is .5 secs. slower, but with the mods to my truck, and the 3:73 gears, I think I have him covered.
Any opinions?

Will,
I have good friend with the same Dakota set-up. Often times, we end up following each other home after work. I can kick his ars every night! Even with 500lbs in the back of my truck he is unable to keep up.

Dear William,
Taking into consideration your mods, and asuming a bone-stock Dakota using your figures, both vehicles are now right at about a 16:1 weight to power ratio (16 lbs. for each horsepower), approximately. That makes for darned good performance given that type of vehicle, and in my opinion, it will get down to the driver. Meaning, the relative performance on paper looks extremely close, and close enough so that it will be a matter of who does a better job of driving, I feel.
Let us know if this ever actually happens, be careful, and good luck!
