It's Here !! It's Here !!
I finally recieved my Superchip after a short delay. All I can say is-
Holy Sh*t !!!
I'm "walking" away from all of the traffic at the lights. Can't stop accelerating, it's so fun...
Somebody STOP ME !!!
This 'chip definitely is putting some "kick" into my truck. When I first felt the tranny shift when I floored the pedal, I thought that I broke something ;-}
Transmission really shifts quickly through the gears, I've see to have forgotten how refreshing a quick change in gears is when you're hard on it.
Mike, thanks so much for all of your personalized attention regarding my chip, and to all of the rest of you out there-
just do it.....
-Kindest Regards

Mike,
We've emailed a couple times so far. My delivery date for my SuperCrew is May 15. Would you suggest chipping the truck as soon as I get it, or driving it first for a while? Perhaps there's no advantage or difference if I break it in first or if I change the code? I suppose the sooner I chip it, the sooner I get the advantages.
-Mike

Dear wjt,
Nice post!
One of the most noticeable areas of improvement are the WOT upshifts, for several reasons. The line pressure increase is very small, no more than 20%. But the removal of the upshift delay, and pulling out the transitional spark retards that reduce engine power during and just after the upshift make for a very noticeable improvement, and help the vehicle to accelerate noticeably quicker and pull harder.
And don't worry, you didn't break anything, that won't happen with the Superchip.
The truck leaps forward now on the WOT 1-2 upshift, instead of a long drawn out upshift and the "nosing over" that happens just after the upshift with the factory program. So it's a matter of the power gain combined with the fact that the WOT upshifts now execute much quicker, that gives that "snappy" feeling when accelerating hard. Just like it's *supposed* to.
Once the novelty of the new go-fast part wears off, you may also notice that you get a little bit better gas mileage too.
Have fun!

Dear Mazilis,
Good question!
In our new vehicles, we generally don't even get off the dealer's lot before we have our Superchips installed, but that's us.
I think perhaps it's a good idea to have a few hundred miles on the new vehicle, just so you know that there are no immediate problems with the vehicle that need attention before reliable operation can be established. It's rare to have a serious problem in a brand new vehicle, but just in case, I think a few hundreds miles is a good idea before chipping or doing anything else to it mechanically. Once you've got a few hundred miles on it and there are no problems with the powertrain, then you can proceed with your changes.
