Question High Altitude Package, Superchip fix???

Does the Superchip fix the lack of power brought on by the high altitude package? Also, what if 93 octane fuel is not available, will 91 do the trick?

Dear 4X4Jake,

Welcome to F150online!

The main thing to remember about all this is that as you go up in elevation, the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere is reduced, so with less oxygen available, the engine simply cannot burn as much fuel, and consequently *total* power is reduced in comparison to sea level altitudes. Also, the demand for octane drops with altitude increases, which is why in those areas, you'll find that premium is usually 91 instead of 92-94, and regular can be as low as 85 octane instead of 87. The 91 octane premium at those higher altitudes will be just fine with the Superchip.

The Superchip can increase power, that's not a problem. Each Superchip is programmed for the specific software revision that came in your individual vehicle, so you'll get all that can be had from this tuning process, whether it's a high-elevation vehicle or not.

Please feel free to give us a call at our number below, and we'll be happy to go over all of this in detail with you. Then you can give some thought as to whether the Superchip will work for your situation.
