A follow up question, if you please, Mike.
I am guessing that the "1714 Micro Tuner for the 2004 F150's" will be very much like the 1715 Micro Tuner, except "CAN enabled", correct? If so, do you think that in the not too distant future there will also be a "Custom Tune" Micro Tuner comparable to the 9100, except "CAN enabled" for the 2004 (and future) F150s?
O/T but I'd like to squeeze this on in: Have you had the chance to try to fit your 2004 with the e-fans yet?
Thanks much,

Hi John,
Yes, you're basically right - I don't know the exact timeframe on the *custom* version of the CAN flasher, but it should be pretty quickly after the 1714, or roughly about the same time, basically.
And no, we have not yet been able to make the time to finish our R&D on our e-fan kit for the 2004 F-150 yet, my apologies! We had planned to be shipping by now, but between our custom tuning during racing season & a number of manufacturers coming to us for help doing R&D - like intake Mg's for 2004 F-150 intakes, supercharger manufacturers asking us for help on the 2004 F-150, etc., has been keeping us so busy I just haven't had nearly as much time as I'd personally like to spend on our R&D on the fan kit & a couple of other things to get them completed. . There just never seems to be enough time, but hang in there, we'll get it done.
Enjoy your weekend, John!

You do know there are 24 hours in the day, dont you Mike?
Ha Ha just kidding, since I tried running tuner and got some threads that have nothing to do with CAN tuner, can you or someone else please describe the benefit of waiting for the CAN tuner? I planned on getting the 1714 when available, but would like to be able to make a more informed purchase. Thanks again for all the information you provide, the 15821 magnaflow I bought for you is and sounds great.

Hi JDaddy,
Thanks for your post -
Yep, there sure are only 24 hours in each day - and we need 30 or so.
In many ways I really can't comment (at least, intelligently & accurately) about a product that does not exist yet, as at this point, we do not know for sure exactly which features the new 1714 Micro Tuner will have, as it's not finalized yet. It will be multiple-tune, and in many ways very much like the current 1715 unit for the 1996-2003 trucks - but other aspects just aren't finalized yet.
To get a decent overview of what a Micro Tuner type of device generally gives you, as well as what we're doing right now with 2004 F-150 owners who are sending in their PCMs for us to reflash them so you can compare those two choices - drop by our web site at this link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo
While you're there, read up on these 2 part#'s: 04P221Flash - which is the Part# for the PCM reflash for the 2004 5.4 F-150 - and then Part# 1715 - which is the flash device for the 1996-2003 F-150's. Reading up on both of those will give you some excellent info about the basic differences between those two types of products - then of course you can feel free to call us to discuss that in more detail, if you like.
We make the 2004 tuning available now simply for those who do not want to wait - many people want the Micro Tuner type of device, so they can return their tuning back to stock at any time, and then reinstall the performance tuning again at any time, etc. And for all the other reasons - multiple tunes, the built-in OBD-II/CAN code scanner etc. Just read up on those 2 part#'s at that link on our site & you'll quickly get the gist.
Glad to hear you're enjoying that exhaust - that's the same one we use on our 2004 F-150 as well. Sounds nice, looks great, & adds some nice power gains.
Thanks very much for your kind post, and for your support - I only hope we can continue to earn it!

Hi JDaddy,
You're very welcome, of course.
Actually, we're going to be spending the next few days doing more R&D on the 2004 F-150 - we're doing headers, a new valve body, more intake R&D, and if there's time, the E-fans as well, though I have to say that's about a 50-50 chance of that being actually completed this week - I think we're going to need at least one more additional R&D session on the e-fans again after what we're going to get done this week - we'll just have to see how it all goes!
