Unhappy Anyone take a YBQ2 Code over Top End Limiter with a Superchip????

Hello all, I'm trying to prove to myself that it possible with this dang code. I getting frustrated with this now, It's getting close to a year since I bought this superchip. No offense to Mike, but dang this is one of the main functions for this chip. Should I look into a new computer or something? Heck I'll try just about anything now. I guess I'm mainly venting.....

HI Mumbly,

The "normal" YBQ2 Superchip code has had the top speed limiter removed for some time now. When that code first came out, it was probably several months before Superchips defeated that particular style of TS limiter, so we've updated some of the oldest YBQ2 Superchips that were out there with that new program, some time ago, just so you know. And that will happen sometimes, where it will take awhile before that particular function is defeated on brand new vehicles when Ford has made a change, but your custom program was done well after that. In other words, your custom program already has the exact same changes that have removed the top speed limiter from every other YBQ2-code we've had, along with several other changes, but it has not taken care of this for you, which leads me to believe that there is a conflict somewhere.

What you have is a highly customized program for your supercharger and other modifications, and thus it cannot be compared on any level to the "standard" Superchip program for the YBQ2 computer code, something you may not be aware of. Your program has received all of the different techniques for removing the top speed limiter, but has not responded, and I'm betting it's due to a conflict between VSS & other data. I can tell you that we have dozens upon dozens of guys using the "standard" YBQ2 program Superchip, and with no top speed limiter. The YBQ2 code was the first new code for the 1999 F-150 4.6 automatic, and was not used for very long by Ford for that model year, it was fairly quickly updated to YBQ3. So there are considerably more YBQ3's out ther than there are YBQ2's, but I have no idea as to actual production numbers per code, of course, nor is that particularly relevant here.

It is very true that you have been thru the mill, so to speak, with this custom program in regards to the top speed limiter, having tried several different changes. I haven't heard anything back from you since Mike Short of Superchips set things up so that you could work with a local dealer to reflash your existing Superchip with program changes, so that you wouldn't have to send it back in anymore for reflashing. This is the first I've heard anything from you since that was done some time ago, so if I don't know about it, I can't do anything about it. I would suggest giving me a call, so we can go over just what has been done, and take whatever steps need to be taken to get this resolved for you. There is going to be an answer, we just have to find it. As soon as I saw your post, I immediately placed a call to Mike Short, to let him know we still have this problem, but you and I still need to communicate, and you can call me collect if you like, so it's on our dime.

There are some cases where something is not agreeing with something else, and the behaviour, or characteristic, of the top speed limiter changes, from a complete and total fuel shut-off, to something that feels like a softer type of limiter, and whenever that happens, it is because there is a conflict somewhere, usually a conflict between VSS & other data the ECU compares from multiple sources; if they do not agree, you will get this type of behavior in the TS Limiter's characteristics. Neal the HP Freak experienced the same thing with his Superchip originally, and it was due to his gear change in his case, so that had to be compensated for.

At any rate, please give us a call so we can go over this with you, and take whatever next steps need to be taken to get this taken care of. I know you're frustrated in this custom situation, but we'll continue to do whatever it takes to get this taken care of, so just give us a shout, please.
