Questions for the performance experts!!
Can anyone tell me the stock HP for the
F150 4.6? Also what is the stock HP for the 5.4? I have a 1998 F-150 XLT 4x4 with the 4.6. So far I've added a Magnaflow exhaust and the new K&N Generation II airfilter assembly kit. (Basically same as an Airaid)
And my new superchip is on it's way. After I install the chip can anyone give me the new (approx) HP? I'm doing these improvments to help tow my 21ft boat. It doesn't really struggle but it sure sounds and feels like any additional power would help. Any other tips anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot and happy truckin!!

Dear richgonfishn,
The stock hp level for the 4.6 is usually 220, though some earlier ones are 215. THe peak gain from the Superchip is 26 horsepower and 40 lbs./ft. of torque, and that is a flywheel figure, so you can add it to whatever the actual power output level your engine is currently making to arrive at it's new power level. Assuming that is exactly 220, then you'd be a bit above a stock 1998 5.4, which is 235 hp. Ideally, that figure would be 246 hp.
