as far as the tuning goes, does the superchip give the same tune as the 1715 gives (the old single tune version)? i know you can change trans shifting and firmness with the 1715. i have an old chip from my last truck, i am wondering if i will get the same performance from getting it reburned to the new truck as i would with the tuner.

Hi SS,

You're basically right on track - the "standard" Superchips performance tune you get in the traditional blue single program Superchip modules is the same as the "tow-perf" tune in the 1715. Meaning it's set up for premium gasoline, still allows towing, and has the same transmission shift points & shift firmness levels as the "tow-perf" tune in the 1715 - so the performance you get from it would generally be the same as you get from the "tow-perf" tune in the 1715.

Now depending on the computer code of your truck, we (meaning us here at Troyer Performance) may have an even higher performance tune available for that blue Superchip module - we pioneered the "MAX" performance tune that appeared in the 1715's starting last September, and had been making that tune available in the blue modules for a couple of years before it ever got into the 1715. That tune requires premium gas, and you *cannot* tow with it - it delivers about another 8 HP or so over the "standard" premium gas tow-safe tune, on average, so the performance gains are a little bit better.
