what kind of chip
I have an '97 f-250 HD 5 speed manual with the 7.5L 460. What kind of chip should I get. I hear alot of talk about shift improvements but that doesn't apply to a manual tranny, right? My local 4x4 outfitter swears by the Jet chip. I hear alot on the forum about the superchip. I need to know what would work best for my particular truck and where I can get it. Thanks

Whatever you do, don't buy the Jet, you will be dissapointed. Only works at WOT. Let me guess, your guy just happens to carry the Jet in his product line. Read the postings in TO CHIP OR NOT TO CHIP.

Dear 4X4Landscaper,
The Superchip still adds the exact smae amount of engine power whether you have a manual transmission or an automatic, that does not change.
The Jet unit adds little to no actual power, we've seen this on the chassis dyno many, many times, as Superchips tests most competitors every year. What little it does it only does on full-throttle, the rest of the time it sits there doing nothing.
Their return rate is so high that they stopped honoring their money-back guarantee, and consequently were sued by a Saturn car club for 1.5 million dollars.
Reading the other thread, "TO CHIP OR NOT TO CHIP" is an *excellent* suggestion, as this very subject is being discussed there, and you can see numerous people hwo used to own the JET unit, and have switched over to the Superchip.
Another point is that with other chips, like Hypoertech & JET, you only get a "generic" program, designed to work on all similar vehicles. With the Superhcip, you get a program that was custom developed for *your* individual vehicle, and it shows in the results.
Please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over all of this in detail.
As far as where to order it, you can get it from us, as we offer the special F150online discount to F150online particiapnts like yourself. We have an online ordering system right here on F150online, which you can access either by clicking on the Performance Products banner ad, that appears in rotation at the top of these pages, or you can go right to it by typing in the URL that I have listed just below in my signature line. I admit, I was unsure at first...however...I finally bought the superchip with Mike's and the many remarks/advice from others..and BELIEVE ME....I am *more* than impressed.
I hesitated for a while...but decided to just give it a try. I was fortunate to find a 3 month old used one in the classifieds..so that also helped me to give it a try.
You will *NOT* be disappointed at all with the superchip. The tranny shifts *MUCH* better, the power is right there at all RPMs, and the power/throttle response is just about IMMEDIATE! No delay. Just remember, the superchip will not make the F-150 into a Viper or Corvette...but you will certainly like it!
Mike has proven to really know his stuff...so having him on here to help answer questions is another added benefit!!
