Hey ruger-dfw, you can purchase
the Superchip right here on F-150 Online. The Superchip needs 92
Octane, because it requires more spark.... they also make a
Flipchip which enables you to use
87 Octane(cheaper gas) and still
tightens up your shifts. With a flip of the switch the Superchip (92
Octane) gives you better performance in town
as well as on the highway, more
horsepower/torque and they say better gas mileage (1.5 to 2 mpg). That's not guaranteed, but most people see an increase in gas mileage!
I just installed mine this weekend, and it's GREAT! I'm sure Mike Troyer (Distributor Superchips) will be here soon to answer all your questions in full detail.... Great Guy, you can trust him! Each Superchip is programmed for the exact software revision that your vehicle's computer was loaded with at the factory, so we will need your vehicle's computer code. This is very easy to find, simply open your passenger door, and look in the front part of the door frame. In between the door hinges, there will be a sticker with 3 letters and a number on it, and that is your computer code. FCR3, ZZT4, WIJ4, etc, those are just a few examples of computer codes for the 1999 5.4 F-150, and there are others as well. So just take a quick look in your passenger door frame, and give us a shout at your convenience!
