pete- no you do not- the only exhaust mods i believe that require any type of tuning would be going to "long tube" type headers and true dual exhaust- -the key there be the long tube headers- i beleieve it has something to do with the new o2 readings- but you will be fine-phil
Hi Peter,
As Phil (openclasspro) mentioned, no, we don't need to change anything in the tuning for the installation of a cat-back exhaust system. Even shorty headers are fine in many cases, just as long as the actual distance of the upstream O2 sensors from then exhaust port doesn't change, or doesn't change by very much.
In the Lightnings, bolt-on mods that tend to require changes in tuning are generally things like higher boost pulleys & changing the MAF meter - and in some cases, long-tube headers.
Things like an intake kit (like the Air Force One), a cat-back exhaust, a bigger throttle body, electric fans - those kinds of modifications do not generally require changes in the tuning.
Enjoy your new exhaust!
