Mike, I desperately need your help!

Well, the guy who was one of the best Ford tuners in my area sold out to live in Florida last week. That leaves me with absolutely no one in my area that is a trustworthy tuner. There is one other place in town that does dyno tunes, but they tuned a guys F150 and its running too lean...

With my new engine plans getting very close to completion, Im going to NEED to have my computer programing taken care of before I swap out the engines. I have done some serious modification to my engine:

Fully race ported and polished heads,
.500 lift Comp Cams (2000-6000RPM range)
Ferrea Valves
8.2-1 Forged -18cc dishtop pistons
Forged H-beam rods
ATI 2 core P1sc running 12 or more psi
Pacesetter headers, Catco cats, Flowmaster exhaust
75mm Throttle body with ported and polished elbow
90mm MAF sensor
42# fuel injectors
255 Walbro intank fuel pump

I need a tune that is going to give me the VERY most SAFE power that optimizes ALL of my modifications. I know that I can get a Superchip programmed for basic power adders, but what about this serious of performance? I have a friend who had a mustang with the same engine setup, everything was the same except forged rods (now has broken rod), and his engine ran 400hp at the wheels detuned a little to make it easier on the rods (still too much for stock rods).

I was just wondering what you can do for me. IF you can help me, then just reply tell me to contact you via phone. If you can't help me then just say so. I will be at the World Ford Challenge in a couple weeks, just wondering if you'll be there too?

Thanks for your help!

Im going to the World Ford Challenge at Gateway International Raceway. Its a 4 day event from the 13th through the 16th this month.

I certainly hope he can do something for me. However, I feel that if I just tell them over the phone what I have done to my engine, that I wont be getting as much power as if it were tuned on a dyne by a Ford expert...

I totally understand where your coming from.I called and talked to Mike, and he took the time to look at my specific computer code and tell me what kinda setting it had and what he could do with them based on the mods I had done.Spent a good 45 min on the phone just going over my options.Give him a call tommorrow and tell him what you have going on.But I do know the Mondays are VERY busy for them.

I may have to wait another week and a half before I can call him because its the last, hectic week of my high school carreer... Also, Ill call him from my grandma's house cause she has free long distance, especially if ill be going over things for a while.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm pretty confident that I'll be in good hands with Mike, but I was just really wondering if Superchips, if thats what chip I would use, would do that serious of modification for my engine.

I've talked to Mike before about this because I have plans to do some serious mods to my truck like you are doing.

Mike will be able to help you but you'll need to give him a call to get all your answers. He most probably will want to have your truck put on a dyno so he can get A/F ratios and have other information data logged. I also believe Mike will do the actual tuning on the truck, not superchip. He also has some new four bank computer chip out that sounds really good and sound like it's a lot better than the older superchip. He can add a lot more about that than I could ever do though.

When I get my tuning done I won't be letting anyone do it unless I know they've tuned these engines before and have worked with Modular motors before. I've noticed a lot of the old Ford guys that know the 302 and 351 very well know nothing about the new modular motors.

Hi Rick,

Glad you dropped by -

I saw the thread on "the other" web site, where you mentioned "not hearing back from us yet," so let's address that first........................any time you want to reach us in anything resembling a "timely" manner, you'll need to call us. Our customers come first, so I drop by here personally only when I can manage to "steal" a few minutes - so if you want or need something from us quickly, the best way to do that is to give us a quick call - just FYI.

Yes, we can handle your tuning needs - from a tuning standpoint, your configuration (which any Ford truck owner would be very proud to have) isn't "new" or something that is particularly unusual, etc. We do see some variance in terms of tuning required (primarily how much timing) based on how the cylinder head work was done, and then the exact cam specs - so after you get our baseline tunes, adjustments will usually be needed to thoroughly optimize everything. That is easily done, we can set you up with a package so we can update your tuning via email for you. We have a very straightforward methodology for these custom tunes, and thorough instructions & a template for you to use for the required datalogging.

Looks like you've got a very nice package coming together, Rick - congratulations on your build-up, & we look forward to working with you - just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll go over everything with you.

Talk to you soon,

Thanks for your reply, Mike. I do know that you are very busy, and I don't remember being impatient with anyone. I know from the bad experience of two friends who are mustang owners that this sort of horsepower build up cannot be rushed by any means. I will have time to call you next week sometime. From what I hear, mondays are crazy busy, so I'll try to make it mid week sometime so im not taking up too much of your time.

Once again, I GREATLY appreciate all of your help youve done for me in the past, present, and likely future. I think its awesome to see such effort to satisfy your customers!

Thanks again,
Rick
