1715 problem

Purchased the 1715 from Troyer P. in Oct. of 03, easy to install and made a big difference. However, I went to "return it to stock" and it said the "tuner was VIN loced". I know what this means but the tuner was installed and put on the shelf and never touched it again. Meaning, I didn't plug it into another vehicle. The truck hasn't lost its get up and go, so I know the Max Preform. setting is still working.

I talked to Anita at Troyer P. and she wasn't able to suggest a resolution and she gave me Super Chips #. After being interigated by tech support, I had to ship it to them so they could look at it.

I was putting it back to stock because I added a 3" body lift, went form 35" to 37" tires, and 3.55 to 4.56 gears. My appointment was set at the lift shop to do these mods so I went ahead and did them...

Now for my questions:
1. Has anyone ever had a problem w/ "tuner is Vin locked"?
2. Will I incur any damage to my tranny or engine since the tuner is set at 3.55 gears and 35" tires when I am actually at 4.56 and 37" tires? (the speedo is off but no big deal)

Did the vehicle go to a Ford dealer after the 1715 was installed?
Did they reflash your truck without your knowledge?

Not being able to correct for gear and tire changes is going to effect transmission shift points to engine rpm, as I'm sure your aware. Long term effects I wouldn't think would be good on the vehicle.

Hope Superchips gets it figured out for you!

Let us know the out come with them.

that would be my guess as to why you cant get your 1715 working.

It did not go in for any service at the dealer, just the typical fluid changes at the local Jiffy Lube. This was asked by Super Chips and Troyer P. when I called them, I am stumpped.

I expect to get the tuner back within 5-7 days when superchips mails it back.

I will post back once I hear... Thanks for the feed back.
