transgo kit or reprogramed superchip?
What will give the best performance? trango kit has a reputation of bringing shifting alive. Will reprograming a superchip give equal results or better? By reprograming i mean making shifts firmer and moving shifting points by 200 to 300rpm's. Can anyone offer any feedback?

If you are trying to decide between doing a custom program in the chip, or installing a Transgo shift kit, it really depends on just what exactly you want the vehicle to do. Most people like it to shift smooth on light throttle, and chirp the tires on the 1-2 WOT upshift. If that is what you're looking for, I'd do it in the Superchip.
The Transgo shift kit used to have 3 different levels of firmness, but not any more, they have only one setting now. I am running both the Superchip and the Transgo kit, and for my particular needs, it works great, and I'm very happy. Mine is the older kit, installed in APril 99, and I installed it on the lightest setting, "police/taxi". But I used the Transgo kit as a "band-aid", as I have a glazed clutch pack, and wanted to hold off on the rebuild for another year or so in my car. The way mine shifts is perhaps a bit too firm on the 2-3 upshift, as it will bark the tires at 95 mph on the WOT 2-3 upshift. It's ok unless the roads are wet, but in the rain, I have to take it easy or I'll lose the rear end. The part-throttle 2-3 upshift is a bit too firm for my liking too now that I think about it, but that may be because I have a bad back, getting old, you name it.
If I were in my 20's again, I'd probably be running a full-manual valve body, and banging gears all over the place!
