Gee I have no "New Years" card to post.
I will also be dropping by Chat as I never go out when the "Crazies" are. I suspect some F150 Crazies will be right here with me. We always stay home with the kids and watch rented movies and I of course drink!
Happy New Year All!!

Couldn't find the right Polished steel design, so once I modify the powercoated ones I just bought, I will paint them.
Q: who wants my chrome ones? Price:cost of shipping, or gas and maybe lunch if you live in S/E MI.

Mike

I hope my Superchip is Y2K ready, just kidding. I will be one of those unfortunate soles working on New Years, but not until 5:00 AM. Oh well as long as I am home by 11:00 AM to watch college football I’ll be happy.

Have a safe and Happy New Year

My family and I will be glued to the tube watching Celine Dion, sipping wine and eating home made goodies. I might break away from it to chat fora while. Bonne Année à tous.

Post Happy New Year!

To All:

Our best wishes to everyone for a Happy New Year, and especially for all those of you who have to baby-sit computers & systems all over the world on New Year's Eve due to potential Y2K problems. I am going to try and drop by the chat room on New Year's Eve if possible.

What is everyone doing for *this* particular New Years, that ends this century?

Whatever you do, please, use a designated driver, and have fun *safely*! (And drink one for me!)

Mike,

Damn you man! I am Baby-sitting Motorola for New Years. Stuck behind a firewall from hell. And sitting to a room that is filled with Generators. And you get to sit in a nice house with your wife and have a good time while I sit here crossing my fingers that not only do the computers keep running but if power goes out these generators dont blow up .

Have a good one Mike . I am just playing with you.

Thanks Mike for thinking of us Y2K watchdogs.
I will be at my workstation at the 'stroke' with all the corporate muckety-mucks over my
shoulder making sure that $3trillion will be able to successfully pass through the systems on Monday (if only I could find a way to reroute a little of that my way).
I have to recant my resolution I posted on another topic; "I, MtKnee, resolve to pick-up the phone and call (540) 862-9515 and order a Superchip for Ethel". After all I'll be able to afford if making quadrupal time this weekend!

The real worries will be 02/29/2000

Remember what event happened 2000 years ago.
Happk New Kear to kou all, see everkone on the other side (Y2K compliant)!

Dear White Knight,

It's guys like you that I was really thinking about when I posted this thread! I know that there are literally tens of thousands of "computer people", dealing with everything from mainframes to minis to ASIC-stuff all the way down to the "lowly" PCs, that you are having to babysit so that the rest of the world can sleep easy.

We've discussed this in a couple of threads, about how so many people like you are having to work that night, to help make sure that our world remains "normal", and that business survives and thrives without a hitch, hopefully. So there have been discussions about a lot of people being here in the chat room for New Years as a result. I will be dropping in too, hopefully, if not sooner at least right after the stroke of midnight, just to stop in and offer my sympathies for you all having to work.

So if you have Internet access from the room you'll be in, do drop by the chat room, and commiserate with everyone else!

Let's hope Y2K turns out to be a non-event, and best of luck on the job, WK!

Hey Reed!

How ya' gonna watch TV if the electricity goes out, do you have a UPS on your TV, or a generator perhaps?

I put a UPS on one of our TV's, that's why I ask. I did it a few years back, as for awhile, during every NASCAR race it seemed like the power went out. So I got a 1500 watt UPS, and it still doesn't give me much time, but it'll run a 26" TV for about 20-30 minutes.

Good luck!

Dear mtknee,

I see you're one of the lucky few who managed to get a red Y2K compliant F-150.

I hope for all of you that Y2K is a non-event, especially given all the compliance trials & testing you have already done, like most of corporate America.

Quadrupal time?!? That sounds attractive, might almost be worth working on the Eve!

Good luck!
