My weekend project - Yet again.
Well this is my 4th super chip I have installed on any one of my car's/truck's. Hmm I guess this tell's you that I really like the product. Anyways I finally had a little extra cash left over from Christmas and I decided to order the chip. The best $212.00 bux I have ever spent. Had my friend send in the order Thursday night and Friday morning it arrived in a nice white box
. The one thing I noticed different was there was a warranty card now and a contact cleaner. Very cool. Usually I just get the directions.
Woke up early Sarturday morning and started the install.
Very easy install with the computer being next to the passanger side kick panel. Loosened 1 bolt (8mm) and pulled back the lock tab for the computer. Then went under the hood and loosened the lock bolt for the harnes to the computer (10mm) the computer then slides right out from the kick panel. EASY.
Next popped off the cover and cleaned the contacts. Guess what, that contact sos pad looking thing sucked
. I did it my way, the way I have done it for years, cleaned it up carefully with pick
. After that cleaned it off with some alchy and it was set. Smacked the chip on the back. Put a piece of Duct tape and right back in it went. Assembly in reverse order and what did I see? The clip that holds the computer to the side of the wall is now unusable since the chip is on the back. OOPS. So I made my own rubber strap and it works great. Now I have Duct tape and a rubber strap holding in the chip (4x4 bouncing) This was the best idea I had since I do go off roading and bounding around can make that chip move it you dont have your computer mounted.
I just posted this to show how easy the install is and to help anyone who has any questions. I had to take out my battery and battery holder to get to the 10mm harness bolt but it only takes 2-3 minutes and its better then breaking something since it is a tight fit.
After finishing with the install I took the turck for a ride. I was running on 87 octane so I went to the gas station and filled up with the recommended 90+. I then took it around the block a few times and felt the new power. Now I have 800 pounds of sand in back of the truck since it is winter here in Chicago, this thing still ripps! I feel the transmission shifting a lot stronger and feeling power throughout the gears. Now this is something I have been waiting for in my 97 F150 Trition 5.4 liter.
I still have about a week of driving for the computer still start mapping my driving habits. I recommend if you have the extra $212-$225 dollars.. pick up the chip, you wont regret it.
I have had a chip in the following
93 Ford Thunderbird SC
91 Ford Mustang 5.0
93 Ford Thunderbird 5.0
97 Ford F150 Trition 5.4
Ohhh yeah feel the power! Have a Merry Christmas!

White Knight, very impressive resume of chip usage. Care to share the miles you have accumulated on each vehicle and its engine condition today?
