Smile 5.4L superchip

Got a used superchip yesterday for my 99 5.4L F150. 0-60 times before were in the low 9 second bracket, after low to mid 8s. Around town at low throttle there is a noticeable difference. If you don't have one,get one!

Dear Psycho,

Congrats on finding a used Superchip! From what you're saying, it's knocking off close to a full second from your 0-60 times, is that correct? That's a great result!

If you timed this with a G-Tech, or a stopwatch, or whatever, we'd love to see the exact numbers before & after, if you happen to have them that precise.

At any rate, enjoy your new (to you) Superchip! And if you happen to track gas mileage, we'd love to hear those before & after results as well. Most people can pick up 1.5-2.0 more mpg on the highway using the Superchip on the V-8 F-150's.

Have fun,

Cool

Darn it!!! Would you guys cut it out.
Just when I get over not buying a chip I read one of your success stories. Now I'm back to thinking "I just gotta get one of those chips". I even talked to Mike T. a few months back and was so close to getting one. In fact I even had my credit card out and my code number down on a Post-It note. I guess I'll try to talk my boss at home into getting me one for my birthday or Christmas. She already thinks I have enough stuff for my truck but I say "never enough". Keep on truckin guys and gals.

Red-One,

You wanna know the best part? Even if you do not like it after 30 days, someone on this BB will usually buy it from you. You may take a bath on $80-90, but hell, if you bought the *other* chip, you'd be out the whole price ! Lots of *other chip* paperweights still out there!

Dear RED-ONE,

Everything happens in it's own time; maybe you weren't supposed to get a Superchip until Santa could bring it to you?

A lot of wives call us, starting right about this time each year, to order the Superchip their husbands have wanted for so long. It's a lot of fun for us, just to be a part of working with the wife to get exactly what their husband wants, especially when it's going to be a surprise. Wives will call us wanting to know how *they* can find the computer code needed, for example, so any wives or girlfriends out there who are thinking of doing this for their husbands, fiances, boyfriends, etc., please feel free to give us a shout, we'll be happy to make the process as painless as possible.

Maybe RED-ONE will get lucky and Santa bring him one this Christmas!

Gee, my wife drives a truck! Actually, it's because she is the best destroyer of fine leather interiors, as she did to each of her Explorers, and a few of my vehicles, bless her heart. After seeing 3 $30K+ vehicle interiors trashed, we put her in a Ranger. Would you believe, she's taken better care of that Ranger than she has of any of the vehicles we've bought her, go figure!

I think my wife is going to be driving a truck for a looooonnngg time.

Wink

OK, Mike.
I am going to print out some of the post and leave them laying around the house so maybe she will get the hint and call you. I guess I can tell my son and he can convey all the right information. I'll make sure she mentions the website too.

Maybe Santa will come to my house and leave me a Superchip. Now I feel just like I use to when I was a kid and had to wait for December 25th. I wish Christmas would hurry up and get here. I'm going to buy a full tank of premium fuel before X-mas just in case.
OH please hurry and get here!!!

Since I was disappointed with the gas mileage on my beast (I know, what do you expect for a F-250SD)I returned the Superchip to have it checked out. When it was returned, the overall performance was just about the same as before I sent it in but the transmission shifts were not as crisp.

When I called the factory, the person who answered said that the engineers might have changed the programming on the shifts because of complaints. I asked if mine was indeed reprogramed and they said they could not determine this. Can anyone help out?

White, my wife is 5'2" and 110 lbs. She hates my truck, says it's a tank. There's a reason for that. Back in 96 I needed a car. She had a brand new one. I went to the Ford dealer and bought myself a 97 Mustang. Well the little t*rd stole that Mustang and I ended up driving her car. I got tired of that so I sold her car and went and bought my F150. SUPERCAB! STANDARD TRANSMISSION! AIRBAGS EVERYWHERE! STEAL THAT ONE WOMAN!!!

I relly don't have any issues to deal with. Really... :-)

DAMN FLEXING DOOR CRACK!

Ford Engineering, reinforce the curve in the door! The cracks will stop.

Dear RED-ONE,

OK, well, maybe you'll get lucky and she'll find it, and agree to FAX that info up to Santa for you. You might want to make Santa's job a little easier, and make sure you have your computer code available on whatever you leave laying around, but I'm sure you've already taken care of that angle.

Have a great Thanksgiving,

Hey: I recieved my superchip today. Took out my Jet Chip. There is no comparison between the two chips. I can't get over the better acceleration and preformance. I havent checked the 0-60 yet but I bet it gained a second or two. Well pleased!!!! Thanks Mike. 99 F150 supercab Lariat 5.4 Snugtop

Dear Craig,

I got your email, and sent you a response, but I also wanted to comment here to you as well. First, just to give you some feedback from other customers of ours who have the F-250 SD with the 5.4, they are getting 9-10 mpg as a general rule stock, and tend to go up to 12-13 mpg with the Superchip. That's a big gain in terms of percentage improvement, but it's still only 12-13 mpg under load. Those F-250 SD's get *terrible* gas mileage, considerably worse than any of the F-150's, just so you know, so I wanted to give you those numbers for comparison.

Now with regards to exactly what Superchips did to your program, nobody here is going to be able to tell you anything about that. The only person who can is whoever did the programming work at Superchips. So I suggest you go back to whoever you bought it from, and have them do the legwork for you with Superchips, to track down what changes were made. Or, you can call Superchips yourself directly at 888-227-2447, and with your RMA number, you can find that information out. They'll have to index it to your RMA number, so once they have that, you should be able to find out just what changes were made in your program.

There is *nothing* Superchips can do to help your gas mileage beyond what the "standard" Superchip for your computer code delivers, unless there was in fact something wrong within the program to begin with that would cause poor gas mileage, and I've never had that happen, just so you know. There is only so much spark advance that can be used with pump premium, so that is not going to change, unless for some reason it was significantly below the numbers I gave you here as representative examples for your vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, Superchips is always happy to try and accomodate you as best they can, I just don't want you to have expectations that cannot be met, is all.

Can you give us an idea of what your gas mileage was stock, and then what it was with the Superchip? That would at least tell us if what you have experienced is normal. Knowing that will tell us if you are already getting what can be expected from that vehicle. I've never had anyone report higher than 14 mpg on the highway with that vehicle, just so you know.

I hope this info helps a bit, and let us know your mileage numbers,
