Question Superchip Questions?

Hi everybody! I'm in the process of improving my Bronco. I did the FIPK, 3" cat-back, now looking at a chip, and any other ideas.

For a Superchip should you change the thermostat?
How much is the chip for my truck with the forum discount?
What are the downsides for using the chip? There has to be a negative, right?

Talking

No, you don't need a thermostat.

Yes, this is a biased site. Of course, if there was a chip which came close to the same performance, there would be something else to talk about!

How do they say that?...."The proof is in the pudding"

Dear BigMHoff,

You do *not* have to use any special low-temperature thermostat with the Superchip, and in fact, we recommend *against* the use of them. They tend to promote more combustion chamber deposits over time in street-driven vehicles, as the cylinder heads do not get as much heat as they normally would. The factory thermostat runs anywhere from 190-194 degrees, and you could go to a 180 if you want, but no lower!

With regards to pricing, we do have an online ordering form right here at the top of the message board pages, it's in the form of a banner ad that is in rotation. You can check thru there for the special F150online discount, or, please feel free to contact me for that pricing. Our phone number and email address are in my signature line for your convenience. The normal price of the Superchip for your vehicle is $265 plus shipping, which is reduced quite a bit with our discount, just to give you an idea of what the product costs.

As far as any downsides, there is one. You will need to use premium gasoline with any performance chip. Most people will see some improvement in gas mileage with the Superchip, so depending on your fuel costs in your area, and how the vehicle is driven, you can end up with a result ranging all the way from the Superchip paying for itself, on one end of the spectrum, to the Superchip costing you $100-$150 or so in additional yearly fuel costs, depending on just how much driving you do with that vehicle each year. (The increased gas mileage is simply a by-product of the increased spark advance that is used on part-throttle, so your results can and will vary)

Have a great Thanksgiving, and please feel free to give us a shout in email or by phone.
