I guess it's just human nature......new plug wires, rotor & cap are under the bed as we speak! (I know, not a very original hiding place, but they won't be there long)

Todd, Those are nessesities, you shouldn't have to "hide" that stuff. How are you ever gonna get the "good stuff" if you can't be honest about the nessesary maintance items?

Andthensometoo,

She just wouldn't understand that I just spent money on what she would consider "performance" (ie, not absolutely necessary) items after I just put on new shocks as well. I do agree I "shouldn't" have to hide something like that, but I do. Such is life....

I see what you mean. In that case you could try My Plan #2, Complaining constructively about inferior performance: Like when I wanted a moon visor (cuz it looks cool) I said Gee, it sure is hot even with the air on in the truck, I wonder what would help? A week of so later I said: You know, if I had one of those visors it would keep out a certain amount of heat (less wear on engine to cool the cab) and because I drive at night sometimes, the lighted one would also provide more visability (a safety feature). Now it is a "necessary" item!
In reality, like Mike, I am lucky to have a spouse that understands my needs/wants as long as I acknwoledge his needs/wants. After all it IS a two way street.

Wink

After reading this topic, I feel extra lucky that my wife gets almost as excited as I do about mt truck.
The only trouble I've gotten into was when I bought some stuff for the truck just before Father's Day. She was upset 'cause she and my boys might have got it for me.

My wife has hidden my Superchip ! It came in today and I don't get it until my birthday Wednesday ! Talk about mean....hehe. My kids won't tell me where it is either...I'm dying here.....
Of course...I have to boot around town to get rid of the 1/2 tank of 82 octane gas and time the next fill up to the higher octane and the chip install (Wednesday afternoon).
Come to think of it....my wife insisted on the 5,4L engine over the 4.6L. I caught the right girl eh ?

Gee Neal, looks like you've got just about
everything on your truck known to man, where did you put the kitchen sink?

BTW, did you hear about the oil gauge being a dummy lite? I'm thinking of putting in a real one, any ideas?

Mike,
I had a little water problem in my basement a few months ago and had to pay $300 to get it fixed. Dont forget that "Flowmasters" are the newest thing in plumming. Just in case she asks when she calls about the chip. I mean Insurance.

LOL

Just do what I do. Whenever I buy something for the truck, I add that same amount to the wife's "account". Then she gets to spend the same amount on whatever she wants...

I've already put at least $2k into my truck since I bought it, and she loves every minute of it...

There you go, Conqsoft, *that's* the way to do it, by including your wife! It might cost cash now, but it pays for itself so many times over the long haul. I made the mistake of teaching my wife how to speed-shift a few years ago, and I think I created a monster! She loves the go-fast stuff like I do, almost.

Bests,
