Peak H.P.
Now with my new so so superchip, my tranny shifts at 5000rpm. According to Ford my motor makes its peak H.P. at 4500rpm. Whats the benefit of going higher than the peak H.P. rpm's?

The reason for going past peak HP rpms is that you still have more HP at 5000 rpm than when the tranny shifts and your engine drops down to 3000 rpm or so.
This helps prevent the drop in power that you feel when the tranny upshifts.

Hello......Peak Horse power... Peak = the most.. How can you make more than peak? Doesn't make sense to me. If you can make more than peak then that would be peak. I suppose you can also go faster than top speed?
Dear Darren Dude,
The WOT upshift points are set so the vehicle will accelerate quickest. You don't upshift at peak hp. You upshift at the point at which you can get better acceleration by upshifting, due to the shape of the horsepower and torque curves. Remember, we're programming the vehicle for the best performance that can be had in it's mechanical configuration from the factory, using pump premium gas. Superchips is not going to let the engine turn more rpms than is necesssary to get best performance, and under no circumstances will they exceed the design limitations of the powertrain, unless it's a custom application on request.
If you get a chance, you might want to give me a call, so we can go over in detail what you're experiencing, I'll be happy to do that.
If you'll re-read what 54regcab said, it makes sense. What he said was, you still have more power at 5000 rpm than you do at 3000 rpm, that's all. In other words, it only makes sense to upshift (in a performance situation, of course) when upshifting will provide more available power.
Bests,
