My 97 xlt does not have keyless entry. I bought it used from a dealership. The salesman said if the truck was equiped with it they could activate it and he would throw in the remotes. Surprise!! He told me that it didn't have it and sorry nothing they could do. Is this true? I thought that maybe they just had to reprogram the existing computer. Any input would be appreciated!!

I believe if your truck has power locks then it can be upgraded to remote entry.

Dear CTP,

Your best bet is to go aftermarket, to a stereo & alarm shop. Any vehicle with power locks can have remote keyless entry installed using an *aftermarket* kit. Trying to retrofit your Ford to a factory keyless entry system is not going to be easy or cost-effective at all. Let your local stereo shop install one for you, it's very inexpensive and works just fine.
