Bit The Bullet
Well, I bit the bullet and FedEx'ed my computer off today so SuperChips can "fix" the no-start problem. *sigh* The truck sits idle until Thursday evening. *sigh*
Everyone keep posting to the message bases here so I'll have something to do!

HI!... Hey CONQSOFT glad to see you are finally going to get chipped. I have had my chip for almost a month now. It has been sitting on a shelf looking at me. See I have the "NO START" problem as well but just can't seem to find time off work to send it in to SUPERCHIPS.

I don't have the chip, and I think my 5.4 has plenty of pep, couldn't you just put your old setup back on? or does the chip preclude you from "going back"?

Yes, you can remove the chip and have it run stock. But my computer was one of the ones that came from the factory without a jumper connection that is required for the chip to work. So I sent my computer to SuperChips so they can make the connection, and the chip will work. So, now my truck sits with no brain (computer) until tomorrow.

Look at the front of the door jamb on the passenger side. There should be a white sticker with a computer code on it. It should be 3 letters and a number. That's what you'll need when you order the chip. Also, the $265 is the normal price. Since you're a member here you'll get a discount. Call Mike for details...
As far as being able to tell if your computer has that jumper connection, it's tough to figure out without plugging the chip in and seeing what happens.
Be SURE you follow the directions and get all the "goop" off the connector on the computer. It's TOUGH to get it off. Use the scouring pad (included) and alcohol. To do it right, you'll need to remove the silver casing that surrounds the computer, or you won't be able to get to the back of the connector very well.

Runs great, quicker throttle response, wider power band, or so it seems! I can tell though that there are going to be a couple problems already. First, I don't have any more mods that I can do without going internal. Second, I'm going to need new back tires shortly. Etc, etc! Well worth the couple dollars guys! Should have been the first thing I did to the truck! Well, today is my Friday, so I think I'm going to go for a little mountain drive or possibly a camping trip. Take care and keep on Chippin!!

Well. Installed the computer and the truck started this time. So far so good. The fuel idiot light had been on from when I removed the computer and sent it off, so the first stop was getting a fill-up with 92octane.
Maybe I was expecting too much, or maybe it will take more time. But there are no real noticable improvements. The only two things that stand out so far are the slightly harder shifts (nowhere near tire-chirping, as some others have said occurred) and the $30 gas pump bill...
