Post who makes the chips?

From what I can asertain, the chip mod is the one post production mod that produces both an increase in H.P. and torque. Something all of us can take advantage of no matter how use our trucks. I.E. racing, towing, off-roading, work.

To the question part of this stream. Is the Superchip the only chip available for the F-150? If not does anyone know the stats of the others? What about cost? ETC.....

Ranch Hand,

No, SuperChip is not the only chip for the f-150, there are several manufacturers (ie. Jet, Hypertech). From all that I have read and seen, Superchip is the best. MikeT (superchips_distributor) is probably the person you will get the best information from.

The reason you only see the Superchip talked about here is very simple: it's by far the best product of it's kind, and that isn't me tooting my own horn. It's the only chip that works *all* the time, the others only do what little they do at wide-open throttle, the rest of the time they just sit there, doing nothing but taking your money.

Superchips invented the industry, back in 1983, and is to date the only aftermarket programming firm to be hired directly by the automakers themselves.

Instead of me running on about how great the product we sell is, you can get a *lot* of great feedback right here from the people who use it. Our F150online customers tend to be a pretty vocal bunch, they won't hesitate to tell you exactly what they think of it.

If you'd like more detailed info on the product, please feel free to contact us, our contact info is below for your convenience.

And welcome to F150online!

ranch hand, The main selling point for me was the fact that the other chips force you to replace your termostat. That threw up all kinds of red flags for me. Why would they do that? They did something that makes the engines run hotter. I don't want my truck running hot. The fact the the Superchip works at all throttle positions and not just at wide open throttle was just iceing on the cake for me. The Superchip gave my v6 just enough low end grunt for my driving style, pulling out in second gear with the air conditioner on so I'm a believer.

M.T.

I did as you suggested and reviewed former streams. I must admit that from the discussions, not only in detail but also in passion,I believe yall may provide the superior product. I will tell you however, before I buy, Im going to research the others. If the stats are as bosted I will install. The one thing I CAN'T have is my equipment ( thats what we call trucks) broken down in the middle of B.F.E. when its 107 deg's outside.

Thanks for all responses. Yall Know your ...........Stuff.

Mike, I was thinking about getting a NOS system but somewhere along the way I picked up that NOS was not street legal. So, now I don't know about NOS. I was thinking on a supercharger but asked on the engines threads inquiring on who makes one for the 4.2. Apparently noone makes one yet. That's just as well since I am afraid that a blower would do just that to my head gaskets. I'm still considering my options. It's not like my truck is whimpy so I don't know what I want with that stuff because I don't drive over the speed limit anyway. I guess just in case my wife gets to thinking that Mustang is big stuff. :-)

Dear Bill,

What they're doing is trying to keep the cylinder head temperature abnormally low, to avoid detonation when they dump a ton of spark advance in at wide-open throttle. Some of Hypertech's thermostats are as low as 120 degrees, no higher than 160 degrees. You don't want to run anything colder than 180 degrees, for proper performance, and to avoid forming more deposits in the combustion chamber.

You're really thinking about Nitrous?!? Wow, let us know if you decide to do that!

All the best,
