finally "chipped"

Well it took a while but I finally installed my chip tonite, and I LOVE it. It took a while because I had to send it to superchips for the jumper. They had it back to me in no time at all. Thanks Mike and superchips for the help. My only question is:
What should I expect from it, I can feel the difference in the shift points, and a little more high end power, However, I was expecting to smoke my tires off the line, but it seemed a little sluggish. I also read about drivind at wide open throttle and the computer relearning in another post, any comments would be great. Thanks Gino

Gino,

Yes, there is a difference but it is a performance chip, not a HIGH performance chip ........ you won't turn your truck into a Mustang GT.

Notice firmer transmission shifts? Did you disconnect the battery leads before installing? Take 'er out for a few WOTs from the dead stop, it'll get better. Takes a couple days with hard driving to relearn.

GinosF150: Are you saying that you had your foot all the way in the gas peddel and those tires didn't even spin!! Shocking!! I think this calls for a couple more mods Now to really compliment that chip you need a roaring muffler and at least a K&N air filter!! Hey, don't worry about the smoking tires, it only causes them to wear out faster

GinosF150, Which power plant do you have? You do not have it listed in your profile. I have the 99 5.4 with Superchip and Flowmaster system. Add the catback system next. Its fun to drive and sounds great. The exhaust system will also help your low end throttle response. I also have the K&N filter. I have been debating to do the airbox mod or not. Im not sure if the gain is worth the investment. I have some "Pretty up" Items on order right now. Should be getting them in today or tomorrow. Good luck with your chip and your new vehicle.

Well, my truck is stock except for the K&N Airfilter and I can smoke the tires from a dead stop, and I got the 4.6!

Thanks everybody,
I've been doing WOTS at every stop sign I come to, It feels good. Triton, I have the 5.4l, I think the airbox mod is next, need to save some money for the exhaust.

Fast46triton,

Hey, either take your foot off the brake or clean that greese off your tires and they will grip better. Just kidding. Thats a strong 4.6 if you can smoke the tires. My dads 99 4.6 or my 99 (chipped) 5.4 wont "smoke" the tires from a dead stop. Keep them
smoking ( that is if you dont mind visiting the tire store more often).
