Question for Mike!!
I was wondering if the 1715 has limitations for mileage on a truck? I have a 2000 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4 Triton. It has a little over 94,000 miles on it. My question is, will having that many miles hurt me if I get the tuner? I just got the truck a couple months ago, but it still runs and shifts like a new truck. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!!!
i'm not Mike, but I can tell you...
my 97 Styleside 4x4 with a 4.6 has 70K miles and i installed the 87 octane version of the 1715. It's only been a couple of weeks and so far so good. Lots of new power!
But here's the thing.... if you add horsepower, *marginal* parts *can* show up sooner. It's like when I first fished for King Salmon... hooked into several, but had to fix the weak links before I actually landed one (knots, line, reels, poles, netting techniques, etc). But once I took care of those things that showed up.....bulletproof!
If the trans is tight, I'd say you've got little to worry about and go for it. They don't call them Ford Tough for nothin!
