Hi 69 girl,

What you have to realize is that there is extremely little demand for such a product, nowhere near enough to pay for the R&D and production costs, and *that's* why no manufacturer is doing it in a hand-held - but we do them in the traditional Superchip modules, and always have.

Superchips *might* add the 4.2 V6 to the 1715 Micro Tuners at some point in the future, but even then I would still opt for a custom tune, due to the additional things we can improve in such a tune and the limited fuel injector capacity.

The 4.2 V6 F-150 does not sell in the kinds of numbers that the 4.3 V6 in the Chevy's do, between the all the various GM platforms that use that same motor, from the S-dimes to all the trucks & most of their vans, passenger cars, etc. over the years, GM has built many times more 4.3 V6's than Ford is putting 4.2 V6's in these F-150's - it's sheer numbers, always has been and always will be.

Frankly, because the fuel delivery system is of such very low capacity in the 4.2 V6's (well, the fuel pump can support a bit more, but having only 6 - 19# injectors, they can only support about 240 HP @ 80-85% duty cycle, and maybe 260 HP @ 100% duty cycle - at best!), we recommend that *everyone* who wants a performance program have us do a custom program in a Superchip module anyway. It only takes a couple/few simple mods and you've already run out of injector capacity & need to install larger fuel injectors - which requires custom tuning anyway, in addition to the change you need to correct your speedo for the tire size (which can only be done in the PCM program starting with the 1999 model year in the F-150).

For any number of reasons, the smart V6 owners use the Superchip module. And you can have that and the custom tuning you need in a single-program chip for significantly less than the figure you're quoting, just in case you may not be aware - call us for details on that.

Here at Troyer Performance we *love* to see these 4.2 V6's modified - in fact, we were involved with the very first supercharged 4.2 V6 F-150, which was an automatic transmission model and made 335 HP at the rear wheels in 95+ degree conditions when we were thru tuning it - up from a stock figure of about 125 HP at the wheels in the same 95+ degree conditions by the way, for a total gain of 200+ HP at the rear wheels! It was a very stout truck - it was actually a 4WD model with the Offroad package, so it was a very heavy V6 - a 5500 lb. truck that also had to tow another 5000 lbs. around Monday thru Friday - what a truck and a fun project, we really had that one screaming.

So yes, we do love to see the 4.2 V6's modified, and we support them pretty well overall because we specialize in the performance of the F-150 platform with all engines & configurations - the 4.2 V6's can indeed be made into a potent package. Even with just a few simple bolt-ons, it can be made *much* more enjoyable to drive, & we offer many performance upgrades specifically for the 4.2 V6 F-150.

Due to all the reasons listed above & more, as well as the numerous limitations in the factory program (that are also implemented in many different ways among all the various hundreds of different factory PCM codes from 1997-2003), we recommend having us do a custom tune anyway in the V6's, even if the truck is otherwise bone-stock.

At any rate, that's the scoop - if you'd like to maybe discuss this in a bit more detail, find out just exactly what we can do for your particular 4.2 V6 F-150 in a custom tune, pricing, etc., give us a call at our number listed below, and ask for me personally.

Best of luck whatever you decide,
