whats it gonna take??
hey fellas, got a good one here,
me and a buddy for many years act stupid every now and then and race our trucks, i have a 2003 fx4 w/5.4 3.55 gears and magnaflow siso exhaust.w/k&n filter
he has a 2001 chevy extreme 4.3 (dont know his gears) but he does have a k&n intake kit.
he is geared better and extremly lighter.
i need to beat him, im gonna get the 1715 hoping it will do the trick, again this is all in fun, just wanting to suprise him, this isnt really that serious.
just wantin some of your input. appriciate it.

Do or Die................... my man.
OK, if both are 4x4, then you are a minimum of about 1000 lbs. to 1200 lbs. heavier than he is - maybe more. A 4WD ORP/FX4 SuperCab is 5600 lbs. *empty* - figure 6k lbs. with a full tank and drive on board. You could be as much as almost 2000 lbs. heavier than his Extreme, potentially.
At any rate, in terms of the absolute best bang for the buck, at this point it's to get your powertrain programming optimized, so you *are* on the right track in thinking Micro Tuner - I agree.
Figure that on the "max"performance tune, you should see an easy 5 tenths off your 1/4 mile times, and some see as much as a full second off. So I'd say to figure than the Micro Tuner should give you a minimum of another 4-6 truck lengths in the 1/4 mile, just to give you a rough frame of reference to judge your performance with the Micro Tuner relative to the performance of that Extreme by - and you may see a bit more.
After that, get rid of that drop-in K&N air filter and put an Air Force One intake kit on there - it'll give you more than 3 times the power gain you got from that drop-in filter, which got you 4-5 more HP by the way, just to let you know. And that Magnaflow exhaust you have is perfect - you made the best choice there, excellent move!
Having the powertrain programming optimized will get you the best benefit from intake & exhaust mods, as not only will you have more power, but once the motor can breathe, it can *really* take advantage of the higher upshift points & massaging the transitional delays & retards in the Micro Tuner. On bone-stock trucks we see an average 1/4 mile improvement of 5 tenths, with max best results of just over a full second - now do that same Micro Tuner to a truck that already has a good intake kit & cat-back exhaust, and you usually see a bit more than the average 5 tenths improvement, as the motor can breathe better.
The bottom line is, yes, I would do the Micro Tuner as the next mod, as that is the best bang for the buck mod you can make at this point.
We have the Micro Tuners on our web site over at www.TroyerPerformance.com, but for best pricing (on Superchips products by themselves only), call us at our number listed below, as on our web site we have to abide by the manufacturer's MAP (minimum advertised pricing) guidelines. That does not apply to any other parts shown on our web site, or even to combos with the Superchips products - this applies only to the Superchips products when ordered by themselves. - (Just a tip to help get you the best pricing when you're ready to order.
)
Good luck!

thanks mike
that extreme is 2wd drive so i call him a cheater.hehe but really he does beat me by 4 cl or so. so i think the max performance and a induction kit should put me right there!!!!
hm......now i need to find some money, i guess i could rob a bank or something, just kidding....or am i??
well maybe santa will bring me a 1715.

OK, so he's a lighter 2WD we need to get your big F-150 whipping up on.
If the difference between the 2 trucks is only 4 lengths, then you'll get him good with the "MAX" performance tune in the Micro Tuner & an Air Force One intake on there, no problem.
Good luck with Santa!
Merry Christmas & talk to you soon,
