Autoscene, eh? Interesting screen name...............

A performance "tune" is a way to get more power and better performance from your vehicle - in the case of modern day computer-controlled vehicles, this is done by providing an alternate powertrain program with better tuning for the engine.

Depending on the year, make & model of computer-controlled vehicle, this can be done via a traditional performance "chip" or module, or via a Micro Tuner to flash the PCM via the OBD-II port.

Basically what we're talking about is a performance tune - whether it's delivered via a chip or a hand-held tuner, the bottom line is it's a performance *tune* that we're talking about - meaning tuning the engine specifically for better performance, as opposed to the way they are tuned from the factory, which is heavily compromised and reduces power & performance. So with a performance tune, the engine is re-tuned for more performance, as well as various delays & retards being optimized for better overall powertrain response & performance.

The PCM (powertrain control module) controls how the powertrain operates - meaning everything from how the engine is tuned to how the automatic transmission shifts (in automatic models) - so to tune the engine differently from stock, modern vehicles require either a performance chip or a performance tuner (a hand-held devices that attaches temporarily to flash the PCM's internal EEPROM) to accomplish this task.

To learn more about this for these FoMoCo vehicles, take a look over on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - in fact, click on the link below and it will take you right to the page where the Superchip products for the various FoMoCo vehicles are shown - read up on Part#'s 1100 & 1300 (which are the single program and dual program Superchip modules, respectively), but please make sure to take the time to read up in detail on our Part# 1715 - the Superchips Micro Tuner - that part's detailed description page will answer many questions and give you a fair overview about what this entails, what it means, and what kinds of benefits, etc. you'll get from a properly optimized powertrain program.

Here's the link:

And of course, please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, our phone number is listed below.

Good luck!
