Problem With 1715 Install Att:mike Troyer
I GOT TO THE STEP WHERE IT SAYS (ESTABLISHING COMMUNICATIONS) AND THEN IT SAID (ERROR PROBLEM WITH CONECTION) OR (CHECK CONECTION) AND THEN IT WENT BACK TO THE BEGINING. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.
Hi Brian Bee,
Sorry to hear you're having a problem!
This should be pretty simple.................
First, check your connections - so disconnect everything, and then first attach the cable to the Micro Tuner, making sure it seats and you tighten the screws to firmly attach the cable to the Micro Tuner's port. Then do the same thing on the other end, attaching the cable correctly and firmly onto the vehicle's OBD-II port.
If that doesn't fix the problem, the other possibility is that you have left something on in the vehicle or turned something on, or have the hood up, a door open, etc., etc. - you must make sure the doors are closed (you can have the windows rolled down, good idea in summer), you are sitting in the driver's seat and that *NOTHING* else is on in the vehicle - not the HVAC system (turn the A/C & heater **** to the "OFF" position), make sure the radio is turned OFF, make sure no lights are on, no aftermarket stereo, DVD player, Gameboy, Playstation2, radar detector, or any other accessories are on - and nothing plugged into any of the power ports like the cigarette lighter, etc. EVERYTHING in or on that vehicle must be turned OFF for the entire time that Micro Tuner is connected to your vehicle. You cannot use power windows or door locks when the Micro tuner is plugged in, ether - NOTHING* else in or on that vehicle can be used when the Micro Tuner is plugged in - many times people will leave a radio on, leave the driver's door open, leave the hood up, etc., etc. - make suer everything else is shut down, turn off, closed, etc. when you flash the PCM, otherwise you can and usually will get a "communications error."
Your Micro Tuner's manual tells you in several places that if you need help, call the manufacturer, or call your dealer - I am reminding you of this because we want you to get help as quickly as possible, and because it is against F-150 Online's vendor rules for us to provide Tech Support here. I've gone ahead and stretched those rules just now in trying to help you get your Micro Tuner installed over the weekend, but please keep in mind that I can't do any more to help you *here*. So if that doesn't fix your problem, you'll have to call us. Our number is listed below, and for Tech Support over the weekend, you need to leave a message *specifically* for Tech Support, which is Extension #22 - and someone will return your call over the weekend.
That information really should get you up & running just fine - good luck with this & let us know what happens!
PS - One last point - when you type in all capitals, here in cyberspace (Internet, emails, etc.) that is considered SHOUTING - just letting you know...........good luck & have fun!
