Question for Mike T.

Seems like my questions got lost in the drama of the other thread (Ray's)....

So....

Mike, I'm curious....

What would have happened if he had updated the PCM with a 1715, and the PCM went bad?

Isnt the 1715 going to be 'locked' if he cant retrieve/restore the the respective code-sets? When the new PCM is installed, how would you flash it with the 1715 at that point?

Hi Griffin,

The unit can be unlocked in that kind of situation. Things like that are pretty rare, but can happen on occasion as PCM's can and do fail sometimes.

The vehicle owner would simply contact us, and we'll give them instructions on what documentation they need to provide us with from the Ford dealership. We'll verify the documentation supplied with the dealership & then make the arrangements to have the manufacturer unlock the unit for them, for use with the new PCM.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
