Question Superchips MAX for an '03 Screw 4.6

Please help...I just tried installing my new Superchips MAX Micro Tuner and ran into some trouble.
First, I had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to disable the fuel system. I found the diagram of the fuse box under the hood which says fuse 8 (20A) is for the fuel pump and fuse 20 (15A) is for some other fuel related stuff.
Not knowing which one to pull, I pulled both out. Well, after that, my theft light went nuts. The micro tuner kept coming up with errors and, needless to say, I gave up on it for now.
Thanks in advance for any info!!

You should only pull that ONE fuse for the fuel pump. I have the same year/engine in my Screw, and it worked flawlessly. Try it again with just the ONE fuse removed.

Thumpernator, thanks for the reply! I'll give it another try.

Hello TipNRing,

Thumpernator made a good point in his post (thanks!). There can be connection errors because of the wrong fuse being pulled, and you can also get that if the connection from the cable to either the Micro Tuner or the vehicle's OBD-II port isn't on correctly & tight, so please give that a quick double-check too.

In the manual for the Micro Tuner they tell you to remove the "fuel pump fuse" - not any other fuses, just that one. Also, if you'll carefully read the Micro Tuner's manual you'll notice that the manual clearly states to check your own vehicle's owners manual to confirm which fuse is for the fuel pump.

In many of the 2001 & newer F-150's it's the #10 fuse, but you need to make sure of this by checking your *vehicle's* owners manual, OK? Do not trust the imprint on the bottom of the lid for the fusebox under the hood, as sometimes they are wrong - they are wrong in both of our 2001 F-150's, but the vehicle's owners manual will be right.

Ford changed which fuse # controls power to the fuel pump several times in the 1997-2003 models, and they even made that mistake in some of the Power Distribution Boxes (fuse box) under the hood, where they imprint the fuse layout on the bottom of it's lid - but the vehicle's owners manual will be right, so you can count on that.

Good luck!
