Ho divewithtom,

You'll get a larger power gain and a better improvement to performance by using the Superchips Micro Tuner - this is due to the fact that Hypertech's tuning is "generic" (I.E., the same program for all 1998 4.6 F-150's, for example), meaning they don't tune each vehicle individually according to it's own factory PCM hardware & software revision like Superchips does - this makes a significant difference in the actual results. Hypertech also only changes the tuning to add power basically at full-throttle (82% or more throttle), during what is called "open loop" operation. They do that because it's much easier & cheaper - for example, many people do not know this, but during open-loop operation (82% or greater throttle opening) there are no emissions standards that have to be met.

Doing things that way (being generic & full-throttle only) doesn't yield the kind of improvements that are possible by being vehicle specific and by tuning for max power *all* the time, on both part-throttle *and* full-throttle. If you take some time to read the threads in this section, you will quickly see that most people here prefer the Superchips tuning simply because it works better.

You also get 3 programs with the Superchips Micro Tuner (87 octane tow-safe, premium gas tow-safe & "MAX" performance) instead of just 2 with the Hypertech unit - and, you also get a built-in OBD-II code scanner with the Micro Tuner - so overall, it's a significantly better value in addition to providing better power & performance gains.

With regard to your last question, I answered that in the other thread you asked that same question in - no, you cannot use both a programmer and a chip at the same time, or use our Micro Tuner and a chip at the same time, or use both a programmer and our Micro Tuner at the same time - you use only *1* device to change the PCM's program at a time.

What you might want to do is to give us a call & we can go over this and anything else performance-related about your vehicle in proper detail - our contact info is just below if you'd like to give us a call.

Good luck!
