Tuner Removal?
Tuner Removal?
Mike or anyone else?
I did a search on this topic but could not find what I remember seeing before. When is it safe to remove the tuner from the port? I hooked mine up just to confirm I was on the performance tune and not the tow-perf tune and I got my answer from the screen. Can I then remove right then and there? I never turned over the ignition and I never went through any of the options I just unplugged and reinserted my fuse. My truck started, I am just concerned that I will do something to hurt the tuner. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi CF,
Sounds like you did it correctly. It's safe to remove the tuner when you have completed your task, basically. The time when you can get into trouble is if you disconnect before completing any task, like in the middle of changing the program, for example.
The only times the MT actually tells you on it's screen to disconnect (if memory serves) is after you have completed a program change - like when originally installing one of the 3 performance programs, or if you go back in to change which program you're running on, etc. - when those kinds of tasks are complete, the MT generally tells you to disconnect & to re-enable the fuel system. The rest of the time, you just get whatever the last screen was, like when you scan for codes, or want to check the program - so when you have that info, you just disconnect at that point, like you did.
