SuperChips 1715/Expedition
SuperChips 1715/Expedition
I would like to hear some feedback on the SuperTuner 1715 and what other Expedition owners think about the performance gains. I have a 2000 model, 4.6L, 4x4 , 3.55LS. If anyone has seen improved towing performance from this unit, please post something. I am thinking that I want to try this unit out, but would love feedback from other users.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi Ozark,
All the info you could ever want on that topic has already been posted and is available for you right here, 24 hrs. a day. All you need to do is simply read the info.
The same basic questions get asked almost every time someone new drops by here (and we get a lot of "newbies," as this is a great place to learn more about your FoMoCo truck or SUV), so anytime one of "the basics" gets asked, we (who all used to be "newbies" ourselves too) refer you to read the info already here - there's a lot of it, and that generally works much better than expecting others who have already posted their impressions to come back and do it again every time the same basic question is asked, you know what I mean.
You'll also want to get familiar with the search feature, as that is your key to instantly unlocking all the info ever posted on any specific topic. You'll love using it, there are good search filters enabling you to retrieve *any* specific info or topic, or posts by a specific person, etc.
To get you some brief immediate info..........
The Superchips tuning is basically going to give you about 8%-10% more power all the time, at any throttle position or rpm. So it helps to improve *any* kind of performance, whether it's at the drag strip, towing a heavy load, just daily cruising, passing moves, etc. *All* manner of performance is improved with the Superchips tuning. It will also clean up the slow & sloppy shift characteristics of the automatic transmission, reducing slippage, which is key to anyone who is towing, of course.
And then there are all the other features, the built-in OBD-II code scanner, the ability to recalibrate the speedo for tire size or gear ratio changes, shift points, shift pressures, etc.
The bottom line is, the Superchips optimization of your vehicle's powertrain program is the single best bang for the buck performance enhancement you can make to your vehicle, as nothing else for the same or less cost will improve performance as much. This is generally true of just about any computer controlled vehicle, optimizing it's powertrain program is generally the best bang for the buck place to get started with performance enhancements.
However, it's important to have realistic expectations - don't expect the Superchips tuning to make 5000 lbs. out back feel like 2500 lbs., for example, or to suddenly make that Expy capable of towing heavy loads up a hill and still stay locked up in Overdrive, as that's not always realistic - some grades you can get up in Overdrive, while there will be others where it will still need to downshift. Even with the Superchips tuning, these gasoline engines still need to be able to turn enough rpms to make enough power to get the job done. I mention this specifically only because so many people seem to expect to be able to tow heavy loads uphill in Overdrive, this is just basic FYI.............
Please take some time when you can to read thru these threads in this section, there is more info already available here than you could read in a year - you'll enjoy reading thru the various posts & threads.
And of course, please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, or if you'd like to go over anything else performance-related about your vehicle, we're happy to help.
Best of luck with your Expy,
