Questions for Mike...

Mike, you popular guy you...

I was just curious, would a UPS shipment from Performance Products be you? I just got a ship notification...

Also, I know this may seem like sacrilege here, but is there a Superchip "chip" for a 2000 GMC Sierra, or just a MicroTuner?

thanks...

Hi closer9,

We are "Performance Products, Inc.," DBA Troyer Performance. So when tracking shipments from us, it will show as being sent from "Performance Products. Inc." The same thing will show on your credit card statement & the invoices & receipts you'll get from us.

Don't confuse us with the *other* "Performance Products" out in California, the guys out in California that send out those color catalogs full of bugshields, grill guards, etc.

Hi closer9,

OOPS! Sorry, I completely missed your other question on the 2000 GMC Sierra..........

Yes, we do offer a Micro Tuner for those vehicles (with V8's) as well, & you can read all about it over on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - it's the Part#2715, works on virtually any GM or GMC truck or SUV with any V8 engine, even including the Hummer H2 and the giant 8.1 V8's too.

I see, but is there no "chip" available like for Fords?

thanks...

BTW, UPS says I've got one more day till my chip arrives... I'm getting anxious. I had hoped to have my sway bars on first, but I may just wait...

Hi closer9,

Ahh, I see where you're going, what you *really* wanted to know all along was if there is a cheaper alternative to the Micro Tuner for that 2000 GM, a chip like we can do for the Fords with EEC-V PCM's............(I'm a little slow sometimes.....)

In a word, no. Sorry, but the GM PCM design won't permit it.

The GM PCM's changed in the trucks starting with the 1996 model year when they went OBD-II, and from that point on their PCM's won't accept a simple EPROM swap.

GM truck PCM's from 1995 on back to the mid-80's or so will accept simple EPROM or memcal swaps, as they are socketed right on the PCB. In those older units, just pop the cover off, or remove the little door on some of them & then you swap out the EPROM or memcal.

But 1996 & up, they have to be flashed via the OBD-II port.
The bottom line is any 1996 & up GM vehicle gets reprogrammed via the OBD-II port, thus it requires a Micro Tuner if someone wants the Superchips tuning.
