Mike T. Question about the "new " tuner

I was getting in on a group buy on the 1715 tuner and read that a new version is coming out soon. The new version has three setting, one for 87 octane , one for twing and one for all out performance when not towing. What is the difference between the last two? I do tow a 3500lb. bassboat several times a month , why can't I tow with the full performance setting? Which setting is the original 1715 tuner? I'm just not sure which is best for me as I don't think that I would want to be changing from the towing setting to performance setting all the time. Many thanks!

Hi Orlando,

Good to see you again!

You're taking about a *future* product, not one that exists currently. The product you are talking about does not exist, is not shipping, and isn't even finalized. We do have the details on this future product, and that is our Group Buy you're talking about over on that other site that just started, so for details about that future unit give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over all of that with you & answer all your questions, etc. If I'm in I'll be happy to take your call personally.

Just to give you some basic general info about tuning needing to be different when retaining the ability to tow, etc...................

A "performance" program/tune for towing always has to be a more conservative tune than an all-out performance program/tune. There are differences in timing, A/F ratios, etc. The load on the motor is obviously far higher when towing, and as a result of that increased load, it needs more fuel & less timing as well as some other differences in the tune as compared to a program for all-out performance with no additional load being towed behind the vehicle. That means we can't add as much power gain via tuning when you need to retain towing ability as compared to how much power we can add when you don't need to worry about being able to tow. That's always been true, this is nothing new.

When we don't need to worry about being able to tow, then we can get more aggressive with the tuning and thus deliver even higher power gains. To be able to have a performance tune for any level of octane and any use of the vehicle, all available with a simple 10 minute plug-n-play program upload via the OPBD-II port is frankly something brand new in this kind of package and is neat as heck.

The higher-performance "Max" performance program is not new, that was actually a project of ours from over 2 years ago, and we have made that available for anyone that wants it in the traditional Superchip module. We developed those programs just after the start of the 2001 model year, for our drag racers primarily. What's new is that once that new unit is fully developed and actually released, then you'll have that multi-program capability in that new Micro Tuner. For those who don't want to spend 10 minutes doing a simple plug-n-play program change, they can always just use the 2-program Flip Chip instead, and then have 2 programs of their choice available instantly at the flip of it's switch.

Give us a call to go over this future product in detail, & talk to you soon!

Thanks Mike

Mike I did some more research and I ordered the "new tuner", so I won't bother you with a phone call, I know you are busy. I just hope it doesn't take to long for it to be released. Now I just need to order pulleys. Thanks again.
