Well, they've never had that to date, so unless somebody just gave it to them in the past few days they don't. And that really doesn't matter much, as that is easily dealt with, and I'd never change chips over that feature.

It's easy enough to defeat the boost dump (which happens a lot less on 2003 Lightnings anyway). Just use the search engine to review the many different posts in the Lightning section on how to do that for free or at very little cost, & you'll find a quick & easy solution.

Good luck!

You're very welcome!

And congrats on your new 2003 SVT Lightning, you've got a great vehicle that is capable of *much* higher performance levels, should you decide to take it further. They can easily be taken into the 12's, and even as far as into the 11's (in the 1/4 mile) on the stock motor with mostly bolt-on parts.

We actually sell a "boost bypass kit" for those vehicles, but frankly, we have had virtually zero problems with 2003 Lightnings dumping boost like with the 99-02 Lightnings. That whole system is still there of course, but there are some changes to it in the 2003 Lightnings that seem to have almost eliminated this as a concern.

This issue of dumping boost is primarily one that happens in these Lightnings if you do a long smoky burnout (you can do 1, but not 2, and if you do a burnout you may well dump boost and run a 15-second 1/4 mile), or if you have raised the boost significantly with pulleys, then they tend to dump boost on the WOT (wide-open throttle) 1-2 upshift. We see very little of this on 2003 Lightnings that we've modified to run in the 11's, for example. That being said, I'd go ahead and take care of it just n case, especially if you intend to take it to the track.

Have fun,

Patrick S. with Diablo has been doing it since 1999. All a dealer has to do is ask for it in a code. Its typically not done because its a safety measure to not disable it. Only those with Lighting Diablo chip experience know this.
