Flip Chip question
Hi Brian,
Yes, you will see power gains from our performance tuning for 87 octane, but of course it won't be as much as you'll get with our full performance program for premium gasoline. Figure on 4.6 or 5.4 V8 engine you'll see anywhere from about 5-8 more horsepower from our 87 octane tuning, and you'll still have the ability to do towing, etc. of course.
Even though the raw horsepower gains will be relatively small with the tuning for 87 octane, you will still have all the other benefits too, the improved transmission shifting, delays & retards optimized, etc., so the vehicle will accelerate quicker than when running on the stock factory program. The powertrain will be more responsive & the aggravating downshift & upshift delays will be gone, top speed limiter removed, etc.
About 2/3's of the people using our Dual Octane Flip Chip setup stay on the premium gas program, as once they get used to the performance, they don't want anything less. However, the rest of them do the exact opposite, and will run on the 87 octane program virtually all the time *except* when towing, or going to the drag strip, etc., when they actually need maximum power.
The bottom line is yes, you will still see some power gains and performance improvement even on the 87 octane program in our Flip Chip.

Mike,
Thanks for the quick response! I was trying to decide on what performance mod to begin with on my 5.4. I think I'll go with the flip chip first, then my exhaust/intake mods. Thanks again for the info.
