Microtuner for '03 350 PSD

Hey Mike T,

Just got my tuner and setup my f150. Man it works great. I have a friend who has an '02 350SD PSD 7.3L and he is looking at getting a tuner as well. Question though, can you compare the Hypertech Power Programmer III and the Microtuner and tell me what the differences would be? Also, can the Superchips tuner be used to adjust the rear-end gears, tires-sizes (for speedo and odo), and shift points on his truck? The Hypertech does not do this. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all of your help over the phone in getting my tuner/belt/plugs too! They arrived quickly after ordering.

Regards,

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Micro Tuner!

Briefly.................

Hypertech is generic, compromising their programs to run on all similar vehicles so they don't make nearly as much power, where Superchips is vehicle-specific and gets maximum power gains. Hypertech only tunes for more power during open-loop operation, basically full-throttle only, so it's next to worthless for towing, normal driving, etc.

The bottom line is he'll gain more power with the Superchips Micro Tuner for the PSD than with Hypertech's programming, and he'll get better mpg too, anytime he's towing or anytime the motor is under a load, such as when driving empty at higher speeds on the freeway, etc. We've had F-350 dually owners report 5 mpre mpg cruising empty at 80 mph, usually gains when towing run 2-3 more mpg.

No, the speedometer cannot be recalibrated with the Micro Tuner on SuperDuty PSD's. However, for anyone that needs this, we do have another device that will do only the speedometer recalibration.

Feel free to give your friend our phone number so he can call us to go over this, I think he's already dropped by as I just went over all of this today in another brand new thread from a brand new poster........................

Have fun & talk to you soon!
