99-00 Computer work for a 2003 Cobra?
With ofcourse, a couple of tweaks? I'd like to be able to tune the car (my friend's) with the TWEECER www.tweecer.com
No, the addresses have changed (as they almost always do), and you're talking completely different platforms as well. You will have to have the correct pre-built template to exactly match the PCM hardware & software revisions to use that particular tool.
And without that, you would have to be capable of doing what chipmakers & true tuners do, which is to be able to modify the actual hex code *directly* from scratch, without having the crutch of a pre-built template to do all the work of identifying what area controls exactly what for you and giving you predefined parameter ranges, all the explanations, etc.
Or, another possibility is if you *knew* all the address ranges for each parameter, then you could get by with using that tool for some of the work.
There have been some significant changes with the 2003 models as compared to *any* previous model year, but especially the 1999 & 2000 model years. Sorry I couldn't give you better news, I wasn't of much help in reality.
The GM people (assuming you mean the typical 4.8/5.0/5.3/5.7/6.0/8.1 V8's & 4.3 V-6's in their trucks, SUV's, F-bodies & Corvettes) shouldn't have to send in their PCM's anymore, in general that's pretty much a thing of the past. At least, with our products it is, as any custom tuning in any 1996 & up GM is done via the GM versions of the Micro Tuner, and of course the 1987-1995's are almost all simple eproms & memcals.
Now there *are* the oddballs, meaning the precursors to OBD-II's, specifically in the 1994 & 1995 Corvettes, F-bodys & Grand Ams, where they need to be flashed via a harness directly to the PCM instead of a Micro Tuner, since they're not fully OBD-II compliant. Or, you can desolder the chips & flash them that way, but in either case, the PCM needs to be available of course.
