Hi Whit3,

Yes, it's a simple 2-position toggle switch, very easy!

you turn the truck off, flip the switch. kinda like turning on a light switch. except you get HP instead of light.

Do you really need to turn the truck off? I have a low/high octane chip. In my case the programs are probably pretty similar. The other day I just could bear the super unleaded price any longer ($2.26) and I went with regular unleaded. I filled up and drove off. As soon as I pulled out onto the road, I remembered that I didn't flip my switch on the chip. So I pulled over and stoped my truck and flipped. I guess I could have just flipped it on the fly from what I have been reading from Mike and Vinnie's post.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, it is true that we have always advised shutting the engine off just long enough to flip the switch in the Flip Chip. And of course, this is perfectly normal and how it should be done in the dual octane Flip Chip setup; you're at the gas station anyway, changing octane, so you just fill up the tank, then flip the switch inside the cabin for the Flip Chip to change programs, start it up & drive off. This is a bit overcautious perhaps, but we just don't want an instant PCM program change "on the fly" to cause a "hiccup" or have the engine maybe stumble for a second when someone is crossing railroad tracks, you know?

In reality, you *can* flip the switch with the engine runnning, but PLEASE don't ever do that in a situation whre you will cause an accident if the motor stumbles or hiccups, or heaven forbid, even stalls. I've flipped mine plenty of times when it's running, but always with the vehicle stopped and out of the way. I don't remember having a stunble or a stall, and a lot of people do this. Just make sure you're not pulling out into traffic at the same time as you're flipping the switch, basically, you get my point.
