4.2 Superchip
4.2 Superchip
i would just like to ask a few questions. whats the difference between a high performance and a performance chip? do they make a high performance chip for a 4.2 v6? also what are some recommended brands? also do you have to begin to put in Premium gas? because with these rising gas prices, that would really be a drag! ive also heard info about a "flip chip" that looks good! any info would be appreciated thanks
Hi Erick,
There is no difference between a "performance" chip and a "high performance" chip, they're the exact same thing.
And yes, you will have to use premium gas if you want to get any significant gain in performance via powertrain programming (the Superchip), there's no getting around that. The most basic aspect of improving the performance of any gasoline engine is tuning the engine for good quality gasoline.
We can make you a special program that you would only need 87 octane to use with, but you won't get nearly as much power gain from it, it's the difference between about a 20 hp gain and a 5 hp gain, roughly speaking, in a 4.2 V6 on average.
Now the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip that you referred to in your post might be moire along the lines that you're looking for, as in that product we give you a pair of performance programs; one for use on 87 octane and the other for premium gas, so you can have the best of both worlds available at the flip of it's switch!
The best thing to do would be to give us a quick call when you get a chance, then we can go over all the various options, costs & results with you in proper detail. Then you can give some thought to all the various aspects of this to determine exactly which setup will do the best job for your needs, we'll be happy to go over all of that with you thoroughly & our contact info is just below.
