1715 with a supercharger

I was just wondering if the 1715 tuner is compatible with a powerdyne supercharger, or do I need to get the chip programmed. Thanks

I guess you meant this should be in the supercharger forum? And I dont have a v6, its a 5.4L V8. Sorry for leaving out that info.

Hi Rangerz,

Actually, this is indeed the best place to ask about anything tuning-related for any configuration, so whether it's supercharged, turbocharged, or naturally aspirated you came to the right place to ask about tuning, whether a Micro Tuner can be used, etc.

No, you *cannot* use the Micro Tuner with a supercharger or with any other more involved modifications that require custom engine tuning to compensate for in these Fords. Things like superchargers, nitrous oxide, ported cylinder hdeads, camshaft changes, larger fuel injectors & aftermarket MAF (mass airflow meters), etc., are among the types of modifications that will require custom engine tuning, & thus the Micro Tuner cannot be used with in these Fords.

You *can* use the Micro Tuner with mods like an intake kit, cat-back exhaust, electric fans, underdrive pulleys, etc. for example.

So any forced induction application (supercharged or turbocharged) you would use the traditional Superchip module instead of the Superchips Micro Tuner, and you'd want to use the 2-program Flip Chip for any forced induction setup, for maximum flexibility. This way you've got a "goes like stink" program for all-out power & performance, and then another program to protect the motor should you get a tank of bad gas, etc. Or a strip-street setup, performance/towing combo, etc., whatever will be applicable for your situation.

What you might want to think about doing at this poiint, before making any decisions, is to give us a call when you get a chance, as we are F-150 pwerformance specialists & have been for many years. We've got hundreds of F-150 owners who have added superchargers among our custoemrs with every type of supercharger made, & we'll be happy to go over whatever you're thinking of doing in terms of the blower, the tuning, etc., & let you know what will work, what won't, what will get you the best performance for however you're using your truck, etc., so you can make your decisions from a fully informed position (if that would be helpful to you, most people here like to go over that with us). We've tuned more supercharged F-150's than anyone else, literally by the hundreds, so we know every blower kit for them as well as all the other performance enhancing parts from front to rear, we've tuend for them all & know the results, most efficient & cost-effective combinations for virtually any level of performance and reliability, etc.

There for a good while, Powerdyne blowers were *very* popular for the F-150, for a time the singel most popular blower as they were very inexpensive back then. A few years ago you could get into their F-150 kit for $1995 & a lot of guys jumped on them. They are a centrifugal type of supercharger, so unlike the positive-displacement type blowers there is little increase in low-end torque & immediate part-throttle response due to boost being dependant upon rpms, but they do add a very nice peak gain, about 85 HP or so at the rear wheels at stock boost levels when properly installed, so it's a very noticeable performance improvement. And, you can pick up another 30-35+ HP with proper tuning if you use the FMU that comes with the Powerdyne & retain your stock injectors. You may decide to ditch the FMU & upsize the injectors, there are a couple basic ways of approaching all of that & tuning it properly, depending on how important maximum performance is to you, your other mods, total power levels & your budget.

You may have all of that already sorted out, but nif not, or you just want to go over something, please do feel free to give us a call & we'll take you thru all of this in detail, if you like.

Good luck with your truck!
