Will dealer reflash computer?
I've got a check engine light on my 2001 Scab 4.6 with a flip chip.
I pulled the chip and reset the computer and the light returned after about 20 miles. I guess I'll take it into the dealer tomorrow. I was wondering is there a danger that the dealer might reflash the computer and then screw up my chip. Should I tell them I have a chip even though it is out?

Yes, they may re-flash your ECM. I've experienced your situation first hand. Once I put the chip back in the truck wouldn't start. I had to have the chip re-burned to the new engineering code. I never suspected that this would happen and the dealer didn't say anything about re-flashing the ECM during repair. I had to go back and get the new engineering code from them before I could do anything.
Hi suvdrvr,
They might reflash it, but only if they feel that would actually fix the problem, and that is rare. Usually a check engine light has nothing to do with your PCM's software revision in these vehicles.
Just make sure that if they do reflash the PCM, that they give you the informaiton on what code they loaded into it so we can reprogram your Superchip to once again match, but chances are you won't have to deal with this issue in most cases (setting aside Murphy's Law for the moment).
If this happens to you, just give us a call & we can get it taken care of for you.
