Some Qs on Ordering the Micro Tuner

Mr. Troyer, i would like to purchase the Micro Tuner from you via money order. I printed out a form and filled in my model and tranny code, but i have a few questions before i send it to you.

1) First, before i get the money order, will you accept it?

2) Also, i am planning a Transgo Shift Kit in the near future, will the chip need to be burned differently since a S/K will be installed?

3) What other mods would require reprogramming the chip? And would i need to send it back to be reprogrammed or since it is the Micro Tuner, can upload it myself?

4) And last, how do you tune the Micro Tuner? Is there a remote that plugs into the chip?

Thank you for you help Mr. Troyer, and i hope to do business with you!

Hi ya Rick,
Mike is outta town doing some testing(he posted about that Saturday I think). But i know how it feels to want answers and want them now. So I will tell you what little i know.
What follows is assuming you are getting the MicroTuner, and not the module(chip)

1. I have no idea

2. It's not a "chip" you are buying (if you are indeed getting the MicroTuner as you mentioned), so it will not need any reburning. The Microtuner is a handheld device which plugs into the port under the dash just in front of where your right knee would be as you sit in the driver's seat.
It d-loads the factory program and stores it in the Microtuner itself, then you u-load either the standard SuperChips program, or select options from the menu. When you are done with the upload, you unplug the MicroTuner from the vehicle's port, and put it away in a safe place. It does not stay in the vehicle like a "chip" does.
As I understand it, your trans-go shift-kit will allow you to select a higher line pressure in the transmission menu if you elect to select your own settings to upload to the vehicle's ECM

So, in other words, no. The chip will not have to be reburned after your S/K install, because you will not have a "chip". Rather, your S/K will allow you to change the way your computer (ECM) makes your tranny shift.

3. I'm not completely educated on all the mods which the Microtuner can accomidate, but I know that dual exhaust, and intake is pretty much OK, but I think if you change the MAF, and injectors, you cannot use the MT, you must instead get a "chip" (module). I know that if you install a Supercharger, you cannot use the MT, but must instead get a "chip".

4. Covered in #2.

I highly recommend the MT. It gives all the "chip" does, plus more. Also, you can read trouble codes with it.

I hope I have helped you a bit, even though I am no where near as educated in the MT as Mr. TRoyer. He will be back this weekend if memory serves. Perhaps some of the other members here can give you more info than I have.

Hi Rick,

1.) Sure! ust get either a 7-11 or a US Postal Service money order, & it will ship the same day we get it!

2.) The Micro Tuner isn't a "chip," it's used instead of a chip. You will have the ability to adjust your shift firmness, so if it's too firm, you can easuily connect the Micro Tuner again and adjust the shift firmness levels until you get it right where you want it, the Micro Tuner is *perfect* for exactly that.

As for all the rest.................

The Micro Tuner cannot be used in any situation where custom engine tuning to compensate for modificatrions is required, that requires the use of the traditional Superchip module in the Fords. You can use the Micro Tuner with an intake kit, cat-back exhaust, electric fans & undersdrive pulleys. Anything more involved, such as an aftermarket MAF, larger injectors, superchargers, nitrous, ported heads, etc., will require custom tuning & therefore the Micro Tuner would not be used.

I would suggest giving us a call to go over this in more detail, you can ask for me personally if you like as soon as I get back from our 2003 Lightning R&D sessions this week. Our staff is there as always while I'm gone, and then I'll be back in the office on Monday, so call me anytime after that & I can spend some time with you going over everything.
