Question alternate location of computer code

The sticker in the door frame is faded out all I can make out is ZZ. Does anyone know where I could find an alternate location for the computer code?
I'm new around here, so I hope this doesn't sound like a bonehead question...
Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith,

For future reference, to find things like that you can always use the excellent search feature here, as this is a pretty common topic (as you may have alreaady surmised), so it's one of those thigns that has been gone over many times.

On the 1997 & up F-150, you can look on the PCM itself for a code sticker, there are usually 2, a small one on the back, and then always a large one on the top (which is the right side the way it's mounted in the late-model F-150).

Look just above the passenger's kick panel, and you'll see the PCM. It is a rectangular-shapoed aluminum box, and the way it's mounted in these vehicles the dimensions are 1.5" wide by 6" tall by 9 " long. The PCM will be held up against it's mounting bracket by a small black plastic pressure clip. This clip will have a little tab on it, which you can grab and just pull straight back, towards the back of the vehicle, and it will slide off. Then look on the back of the PCM for another code sticker. Your code will be either ZZT3, ZZT4 or ZZT5, since it starts with ZZ, it can only be one of those 3, and that would be for a 1999 5.4 automatic.

Every once in a great while, the code sticker will be missing from the back of the PCM, and if so, then you'll need to give us a call so we can give you instructions on how to remove the PCM so you can look at the big sticker that will always be on top of the Ford EEC PCM's, but it's on the right side and thus hidden the way the PCM's are mounted in the F-150's, so it has to come out.

There is always a way to find your code, we can always help yu do that, so don't worry, give the back of the PCM a look as it will probably be there, but if not, call us & we can walk you thru it.

Good luck & talk to you soon!
