Hi Twisted,

Welcome to the human race with the rest of us dead-brains who occasionally forget things!

All kidding aside, this is very easy.......the way to determine correct PCM orientation in that manner is to make sure that the side of the PCM that has the BIG sticker with all the code & other info printed on it is to the right, so that when it's mounted in the vehicle, it cannot be seen. This is the way to do it, as you can't depend on all Lightning PCM's to have the J3 connector in the same orientation with regards to which side has the biggest gap, or distance to the PCM casing from each side of the J3 connector.

All Ford EEC-IV & EEC-V PCM's have the big sticker on top (and usually a much smaller sticker with just the code on the back) of the PCM, which, in effect, becomes the right side the way it's mounted in all 1997 & up F-150 platform vehicles. Then the wiring harness connection with the 104 pins (as you already know) is always at the front of the PCM, with the J3 connector always pointed to the back of the vehicle.

Just remember, install the PCM with the BIG sticker to the right & you'll be fine.

Good luck & call us if you need more help!
