Emergency Microtuner HELP!!!!!
Was in the middle of installing my Microtuner this afternoon. It was going through the process. It saved my original program. Was installing the Superchip program and had Error 127 call Superchips. Now my vehicle will not start. Anyone have any suggestions or know what this is? I need my truck for work tomorrow and of course Superchips is closed today.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Not only is Superchips closed today, but they won't be back until Thursday, January 2nd. They're *always* closed for about 2 weeks duriung the Christmas holidays, they've been doing that for a number of years now.
Have you called your vendor, the people your wife purchased it from? That is who is responsible for your Tech Support, as we discussed in email previously, and that's the very *first* thing to do, give your vendor a call. Any competent vendor should be able to offer some suggestions to you over the phone.
If your vehicle won't start at all, try clearing your PCM first, and see if that gets you back up and running. To "clear" your PCM, first, disconect the battery. Next, insert keys into the ignition, and turn the ignition to the "On" position, and leave it like that for about 5 minutes, that's plenty of time, and is done to drain all residual current from the entire system. After 5 minutes, REMOVE the keys from the ignition (turn it to the locked postiion, obviously, to remove the keys). Then re-connect the battery and see if it will start up.
Also, make sure to check ALL your fuses to the PCM as well. That means both in the power distribution box under the hood AND in the fuse box location(s) inside the cabin, & make sure to check your owner's manual for all that information, as that VARIES based on model year!
If the process was interrupted for *any* reason (usually because somebody tried opening or lowering a window, or a door during the process, or using the cigarette lighter, or the radio, inside lights, etc. at the same time as tuning the vehicle, all of which are a mistake to do), *AND* you can't get it to start by clearing the PCM, then the PCM will need to be reflashed either via a Ford dealership or the Micro Tuner. When using the Micro Tuner, the vehicle needs to have EVERYTHING turned off in terms of radio, door open, windows down, etc., and the only thing that should be going on is the Micro Tuner.
Another thing that can cause a problem is if you try tuning it with the battery not being fully charged, in other words, a low voltage situation. Or not having the ignition switch fully rotated to either the "On"or the "Off" position each time it tells you to, those are all things that can cause problems.
It is against the policies of F-150 Online for vendors to provide Tech Support here, so we're breaking the rules already, nor is this the way to get Tech Support anyway. That has to be done either over the phone or in person, with either your vendor or the manufacturer.
If you can't get any help, give us a call and we'll try to help you with this, but long before that time you should already have already been able to contact whoever it was purchased it from and gotten assistance from them.
If you're stuck and your vendor can't or won't help you, then give us a call on Monday John, and we'll try to help. We do have a weekend Tech Support option in our voicemail, however, 6 PM on Sunday is the last time we check it for any messages until we re-open on Monday morning, so I'd say it will most likely be Monday before you can get any help from us with this, since it's 6:35 PM Eastern on Sunday night already as I write this.
Good luck & call us if you need us, John!

Thanks
Mike,
Thanks so much for your reply. I appreciate it very much. It's already been towed to the dealer. I think what happened was when I removed the fuse for the fuel pump, I cranked the engine to make sure it wouldn't start. As I was doing the install, it got to the point of saving my stock settings, and was in the process of doing the Superchips program when it came up with code 127 and call SuperChips. I tried to redo it several times, but the first thing it came up with was erro during previous install.
I really don't think the non-sart is due to the Micro-Tuner. It's cranking, but it won't quite hit. I think something happened when I originally took out the fuse and tried to start it. I'll see what the dealer says tomorrow.
I did call the vendor. He was helpful. He mainly deals with diesels (he's in ID) and said the code 127 in the 1705 has to do with not recognizing the a program in the computer. He offered to call Superchips for me as well.
I'll see what the dealer says in the a.m. and I'll call SC when they return and see what I need to do about code 127.
Mike, the first words out of my mouth to my wife were - "I TOLD YOU SO!!"
Thanks again for all your Help Mike. I'll let you know what happens.
Have a Great Holiday,
John

CODE 127
Code 127 means you F'd your PCM.
I am working with Superchips and they are unable to recover my PCM. They say they are reimbursing me for my expenses although as to how much I'm unsure at this point. My total repair bill was $620, althouh $100 of this was core charge so I could send the PCM to them for testing.
So if you plan on doing any tuning with a Microtuner, do it when you have an alternate means of transportation. The CS rep told me a story yesterday of a guy who decided to do his in the Grocery parking lot while his wife was inside. It fried his PCM as well and not only did they have to tow the vehicle, but they had to trash some of the groceries.
So far I am impressed with their efforts and willingness to stand behind their product. I understand things can happen and this time I'm the .05% instead of the 99.95%. It is great to see a company take care of it's customers.
I'll let everyone know the outcome.
